Alchemistic Fire, a Weapon? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-16-06, 03:25 PM Since i am playing a Sacred Fist atm, here my question:
As an requirement for beeing a Sacred Fist, i am forbidden to use any kind of weapon. This has the consequence, that i cant use any type of common ranged combat, except Spells. Now that i was looking at the alchemistic fire or the holy water, i noticed that it is not declared as a weapon, nor is it added to the weaponlist. Am i allowed to use it?

02-16-06, 03:30 PM That is a hard call.

Technically, it is what is called a "splash weapon".

In a Strict game it definitely would count as a weapon, in a Power Game, definitely not a weapon.

Loose game could go either way. Ask your DM. Then ask him if matches are a weapon. And if lamp oil is a weapon.

Am i allowed to use it?I'm uncertain of the actual intent of the Sacred Fist prohibition, but I'd guess that alchemistic fire would be considered a weapon while holy water would not.

It's harder to meta-game your way around sacred vows and such (where intent, rather than strict wording, may be much more applicable).
