I have two questions on the Rage abilitiy, as per the Barbarian and Wizard

1. Are there good uses for it outside of combat? (such as breaking doors down)

2. What is a good visual/physical description of one entering a rage?

there are many uses for it outside of battle, like you said the strength bonus helps getting through obsticals like doors and stuff, the increase of con helps if you need that last minute hp in case of traps (where instantanious range is so loved in this situation)

My barb had almost a split personality, one side avoided violence but when he entered rage he was a self proclaimed god of destruction, whenever he entered rage his hair changed form it's white to a black color and his eyes changed from blue to red. He also had a custom weapon that looked like a short sword with a kama bolted to the tip of it, so when he entered rage he always began spinning the kama blade around so it looked like a saw.

Rage is basically one of two things...
1: A "controlled" adrenaline rush. The characters heartpace speeds up and his muscles work more effectively since he doesn't mind exhausting himself. Like the moms that lift cars we always hear about all the darn time.
2: Naruto. Unleashing gates. (AKA: DBZ. powering up), 'nuff said.

Mentally, the first would just kinda make him slightly more reckless, but still fully able to think and talk normally. The second would turn him into a screaming idiot.

Physically, the first has no effects. The second? Whatever you want.

1. Also Screaming frouthing destroying machine: "Blood, fury, venegence!" (Gamers?)

2. And Barb takes his glasses off carefully puts them away and then releases his anger.

Rage
Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Brd 2, Sor/Wiz 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Targets: One willing living creature per three levels, no two of which may be more than 30 ft. apart
Duration: Concentration + 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes

Each affected creature gains a +2 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution, a +1 morale bonus on Will saves, and a -2 penalty to AC. The effect is otherwise identical with a barbarian’s rage except that the subjects aren’t fatigued at the end of the rage.

It used to be called Emotion: Rage, but 3.5 split the Emotion spell into Calm Emotions, Rage, and a couple others.

I find it useful to rage right before a difficult strength-based skill check (jumping a chasm, for example) if I'm not sure I can make it. Sometimes the Rage boost is enough to make the check without rolling, too -- you can take ten and hit 2 higher.

Well, for the visual effects of rage, I've always had my characters begin breathing very heavily, and much faster. A blank stare in their eyes piercing through friend and foe as the grip on my weapon tightens. My muscles begin to swell and bulge as a violent bellowing howl rips forth from my throat, a declaration to anger and fury.

A long description for something requiring no action, but the more descriptive, the better.

My characters recognized it when I had an ogre barbarian raging. I said he screamed in fury and his eyes almost bulged out of his head.

The response was "OH ****! He's RAGING?"

I never smiled so evilly in my life.

Ever seen Slayers (the anime)? There was a berzerker in that. He was more like a Frenzied Berzerker, but it's similiar.

1. Are there good uses for it outside of combat? (such as breaking doors down) Sure, any skill or check involving STR or CON (except Concentration, that is). Any WILL or FORT save. For a completly counter-intuitive instance, you can Rage exactly 24 hrs after getting tagged by a level-draining undead to help pass the FORT save to keep the drain from becoming permanent, or a minute after being poisoned to get a bonus vs the secondary damage.

2. What is a good visual/physical description of one entering a rage? Some classic descriptions of berserkergang include: foaming at the mouth, eyes bulging out or squinting shut, wordless screaming, bitting the tounge to produce bloody froth, skin turning dark, veins and muscles bulging, and actions like self-inflicted wounds, stamping the feet, breaking objects or weapons by grasping them too tightly, or biting through your metal-rimmed shield. Fun guys, those norsemen. Of course, rage could also be a fanatic's zeal (complete with overt manifestations like divine light or sulphurous smoke) or a veteran's remorseless 'killing haze.'

Destructive Rage is always nice for breaking stuff even better. Like gnomes.
