| SirPentor03-27-07, 04:56 PM | Really not sure what the best forum for this is. My 30th level character (mostly fighter) just became a level-1 diety and trying to decide what Divine Salient Ability to take. Here's Alter Size (from http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/salientAbilities.html#alter-size): ALTER SIZE Benefit: As a free action, the deity can assume any size from Fine to Colossal. The deity also can change the size of up to 100 pounds of objects it touches. If the deity has a familiar, personal mount, or personal intelligent weapon, the creature can change size with the deity if the deity touches it, but its weight counts against the deity’s weight limit. This is a supernatural ability. Notes: This ability allows the deity to assume any proportions from the size of a grain of sand up or as much as 1,600 feet tall. A radical change in size can have great impact on the deity’s combat ability. The deity’s Strength, Armor Class, attack bonus, and damage dealt with weapons changes according to the size the deity assumes. The deity’s Strength score can never be reduced to less than 1 through this ability. Also note that use of this divine ability does not affect all the deities’ characteristics. Suggested Portfolio Elements: Any. We're trying to figure out what being 1600 feet tall would do to my stats. Our best guess right now is that follow the chart at http://www.d20srd.org/srd/improvingMonsters.htm#sizeIncreases to increase up to colossal and leave it at that. Any better ideas? Thanks:) |
| tarkin03-27-07, 05:14 PM | Colossal is 64 ft. or more 1600 counts as more. It grants no special bonuses beyond what you get when you hit 64 ft tall. (Besides looking much cooler). |

| Mirtek03-27-07, 05:42 PM | Doesn't matter. Even the room you need on a battlemat doesn't change beyond colossal. There was a dungeon adventure about a giant beast with a whole village on it's back. The city even had it's own map (you could use it to count 40 squares from butt to head (still not including tail)). Yet the combat stats said it had a space of 60 ft. and a reach of 30 ft. |
| tarkin03-27-07, 05:43 PM | Technically, same thing. A reach of 30 ft (60 with a reach weapon) does not seem right for someone 1600 ft tall. But technically, those are the rules. Perhaps Epic should expand them a bit, if they are going to go as tall as 1600. I personally would consider expanding reach. (I always felt that reach should be determined by the size of your weapon, while damage should be determined by the size of your body, but that is not the way WoTC did it). |
| SirPentor03-28-07, 11:37 AM | So here are some rules my DM and I have worked out, including space and reach. Note that this table is like (and includes) the table at http://www.d20srd.org/srd/improvingMonsters.htm#sizeIncreases. The str, con, dex, Natural Armor and AC/To Hit columns are cumulative. The height column is the max height. Height | Size | Space | Reach | Str | Con | NA |AC/To Hit -------------------------------------------------------------- 128' | Col | 30x30 | 30 | +8 | +4 | +5 | -4 256' | C+1 | 40x40 | 40 | +8 | +4 | +6 | -8 512' | C+2 | 50x50 | 50 | +8 | +4 | +7 | -16 1024' | C+3 | 60x60 | 60 | +8 | +4 | +8 | -32 2056' | C+4 | 70x70 | 70 | +8 | +4 | +9 | -64 -------------------------------------------------------------- So at 1600' tall, the size category is C+4. Total strength bonus beyond colossal is +32. Total con bonus beyond colossal is +16. Total Natural Armor bonus beyond colossal is +30. Total AC and To-Hit size "bonus" is -120. So the dude would be crazy strong and have a pretty thick hide, but would completely worthless in combat because you could not possible get being the horrible penalty on AC and To-Hit. Any ideas on how to improve this? Or are we in the realm of "broken and stupid"? |
| ZiggZagg03-28-07, 11:46 AM | Just take a lesson from Epic dragons and make him Collossal+. It extends their reach beyond Collosal, though I think not much more than that. you could eaily rule you get an extra 10 feet or so in size, going from 30/30 to 40/40. Not really game breakiing |
