Well I'm currently playing a lv 5 wood elf fighter an archer build with almost all my feats going toward archery and I'm going to prestige into the order of the bow initiate and everyone else in the party is lv5 as well. Some how I got a +2 ebony flaming burst longbow, my character at this lv is sick I just wish I had more HP.

Ok sorry I got off track, is it possible to magically alter the longbow to turn it into a composite longbow say with a +3 str rating. Because we just found a motherload of uncut gems so we're all pretty well off money wise and we are playing in a low to moderate magic campaign so magic items aren't that common, so I'd like to just modify the bow so I can do more damage in battle. Like what spells would be required to change the longbow into a composite longbow if possible, and what would that likely cost and how long would it take?

And no our DM is babying us if fact everyone we've been facing as of late has been around lv 8 mostly warmages and people with muskets those damn things do about 8-15 dmg every hit and they have bayonets on the end so they double as shortspears. So the fights have been moderately hard and we've lost couple member of the party already.

I just wish I had more HP.An amulet of health could help with that.

yeah, a Longbow and a composite longbow are made quite differently. They have the same basic form and function, but construction is completely different. Basically you want to change your bow made of a single, shaped piece of wood and turn it into a laminate of woods and other materials.

Just buy a new bow later :P

Depends upon the leniency of the DM. There is a relic in the Complete Divine, a bow of some sort, of course, and one of its abilities is to automatically adjust its pull (strength rating) to that of the current user. You could ask your DM if you could apply something like that. He might allow it.

Ok how bout this is it possible with magic without the use of wish or miracle (cause DM's always go wishmaster on you when you use wish's "choose your wishes" (this being said in an evil voice  ) to change the long bow into an elven greatbow basically make the bow bigger so it does more damage a d8 to a d10.

And like I said before its a moderately magic campaign the bow is the only magic Item I own and I really don't know how I got it luck I guess. I mean I can buy potions of cure(insert word) wounds and the wizards/sorcerers/warmage/whatever magic user can buy scrolls fairly easy, but other than that we can only buy what limited magic items are available and whatever magic items if any we loot off the badies.

Changing your bow into an elven greatbow is exactly the same as changing it into a composite bow. Easier to beg your party wizard to take some item creation feats and make a new one from scratch. Once he gets up to caster level 12, that is.
By the way, your game has a really odd economy. Your DM restricts access to magic items then turns around and gives you a single magic item worth more than the recommended total wealth of a character of your level.

The only way I can think of to change an item from one kind of weapon to another without wishing is Mordenkainen's Disjunction to clear away the enchantment so you can Polymorph Any Object it into what you want it to be, then reenchant. This is obviously much harder than just making a new item from scratch.

As for the economy we're playing the game on an island off of the mainland that is constantly fighting pirate raids. So the whole community is kind of a poor working class, you know sailors, fighters, mercenaries, thiefs. I mean the island has a mages guild, various temples to different gods and a couple magic item and potion shop but its not that big and selection is what they currently have.

As for how I got the bow our dm told us we'd be playing in a campaign with less magic because it fits into the story. So at character creation he gives us 3 shots at a magic item basically a modified roll chart for magic items. Well I got nothing, a potion of arrow protection 10 and 50 +2 shocking burst arrows.
It was like rolls dice ok a +2 rolls common ranged rolls 50 arrows rolls that are shocking burst wow nice.

Maybe there's more magic in this campaign then I thought. I'll just keep the bow for now and sell it later. Have a bow made to my specifications like what wood and inlays and what not and get it made composite to my str and just pay the mages guild to make the bow how I want it. Ok I'll just make a new thread help me make and uberbow

what about using the weapon enhancement "morphing" from the underdark FR book its priced at a +1. Allowing the weilder to change the weapon into something else as a standard action. In the discription, a longsword can become a battle axe.. why not a longbow becoming a composite or great bow?

Right, I forgot that. If his DM allows FR material he could try getting that. It'd only cost 28,000 gp and provides a decent secondary capability.
