Is there any book that give detials for alternate attacks with weapons? Say hitting the opponent in the face with the butt end of a greatsword, a quicker attack but for less damage, and things like ramming and minor unarmed attacks to distract and daze opponents? If its anywhere im guessing Complete Scoundrel, but havent checked yet.

You can use sleight of hand for feints. That is the rule for 'dazing' your opponent.

As for other parts of the weapon, other than flavor, there is no reason, wait, I just thought of one. You can attack to do non-lethal damage at a -4. There are times when you might want to do that. There is no weapon speed in the game, so nothing could make it 'quicker'.

Most of that sound like called shots, which is not a part of the 3.5 system (and can't easily be added due to the way the system is designed.)

Also, if you want to strike with the haft or flat of a weapon, you can always use the Subdual damage rules.

you could also switch things up by trying to bullrush, disarm, grapple, or trip your opponent, or use the sunder attack and destroy his weapon. you could always take Imp. Unarmed Strike and Stunning Fist and "daze" your opponents that way.
