In a game I'm DMing, a cleric has a very special holy symbol. She had a dream one night where she was helpless, about to be slaughtered, and her deity saved her, then gave her the sword he held. When she woke up she found a much smaller version of the sword had replaced her prior holy symbol on her necklace.

Ever since then her character has believed there is some way to make the sword full-sized and usable in combat (the edges of the sword are dull to prevent her from being cut by her own holy symbol. :P )

At some point I plan to let her make the sword large again, which will turn it into a +1 holy longsword. She will also be able to change it back to normal at will.

Here's my question: Is the ability to shrink a weapon/holy symbol worth a +1 or more?

I'd allow you to do it with Sizing (in MiC for something like 5k), and have you 'offically' declare that as your personal holy symbol.

I personally don't see it as being more than a +1. If qualities like Returning and Seeking only cost +1, shrinking a weapon for better concealment shouldn't be considered anything higher.

Meep: I'm assuming you mean Magic Item Compendium... or something? I'll have to look into that next time I go to my friend's house (he has the book; I don't.)

Wizardguy: I didn't think the trait was worthy of anything more than a +1. I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks!

Yea, Magic Item Compendium.

Personally, I'd make the Holy-Dream-Symbol-to-Magic-Weapon ability a +Plot ability. Then again, I'm boring and can't afford the MIC :P
