An exotic question [Archive] - Wizards Community

What I'm asking is: how would these weapons be used to justify the exotic classification?
Or, just how would these weapons be used?

2) They are special monk weapons usable in a flurry, and Kama allows you to trip, so those contribute to the profiency "pricing" of those weapons.

Plus, as you noted in the initial post, these weapons are far more akin to tools than normal weapons... and could otherwise fall under "improvised weapon" categories, which would make them exotic as well.

Kama is an oriental version of a sickle. I used it to clean my yard before weedwhacker is invented.

12-11-05, 07:46 AM I kinde always wondered too at the logic by which the kama was treated as anything else than one of the incalculable number of variations the humble sickle has existed in around the world; it's not like a similar design wasn't commonly used among peasantry in Europe too...

Well, the sickle is used by swinging side to side (left to right, for example). The kama is used by pulling toward you.

Is this for harvesting rice, or combat?

12-11-05, 07:49 PM Thats how you harvest rice with it. Im combat you do sort of the same thing, you hold it by the end of the handle with the blade on the inside if you hold your fist out face down and swing it in sort of backhanded swipes.

As for the siangham, I'm not sure, but it looks like you hold it at the very end with the point on the outside if you hold your fist out facedown, and then stab with it keeping your elbow bent across your chest. If you pantomime it a few times you'll come up with something that makes sense.
