An idea for a wand [Archive] - Wizards Community

Each charge on this wand can be used to cast a first level spell of your choice at the caster level of the wand(CL 7 for the price above). This spell can be selected from the sorcerer/wizard or bard spell list, regardless of whether or not you know the spell.

What do you guys think?

10-31-05, 11:03 PM Sounds a little overpowered, based on the CL. I would drop it to CL 3 (with the same price) I think.

I could be wrong about it being overpowered, or it could still be overpowered at CL 3. This is just a quick estimation.

Wands cast spells exactly. the Prestidigitation spell does not allow you to cast a different spell - it allows for simple "parlor" tricks.

You aren't really looking for a wand; you're describing a Wondrous Item.

It is a 3rd level clerical domain spell that lets you cast any arcane spell of 2nd level or lower.

Clerics of the right domain could make one, but only clerics of that domain could use it.

This might be allowable:

Book of Anyspell

This book starts out with 51 pages. When opening a book, the first page has instructions on how to use it. As a free action, you may concentrate on a desired spell from the sorcerer/wizard or bard spell lists in the PHB, of 1st level, and when you turn to the 2nd page, that spell is their. Reading it takes as long as it would to cast that spell, and can be done by any Sorceror, Wizard, or Bard. Use a caster level of 7, with an Int of 11 for caster level/stat based values.

Weak Conjuration, Cl 7, Pre reqs: Any Spell, caster level 7, Craft Wonderous Item. Price: 20,000 gp.

11-01-05, 10:24 PM or you could make a new spell, called Really Limited Wish or something like that, with a small XP cost that basically copy/pastes the limited wish text but with different spell levels... and make it 4th level or lower. then you could make a wand of that =)
