If a weapon made with magically tempered platinum or gold is "heavy" and therefor requires an exotic weapon proficiency, what are heavy weapon's such as the heavy mace? Can you even make an extra heavy mace? And if the normal heavy mace falls under basic weapon proficiencies would an extra heavy mace require an exotic proficiency? What if you were to upsize it to a large weapon as well? A two handed extra-heavy mace?

Just thinking publicly.

That's not quite the same thing. The heavy mace is called the heavy mace because it's bigger (and therefore heavier) than the light mace...not because it's heavier than a "normal" version of itself. It should be easy to created a heavy heavy mace in the same manner you'd create a heavy longsword or a heavy dagger.

Okay then, would you know of any heavy materials less expensive to work with than gold or platinum? If so what source book is it featured in?

I'm not familiar with the ability in question, but if we're talking plain physical properties, you can just fill the mace with lead.

How about lead? Just treat it the same as gold, except that it's basically worthless.

While it's certainly heavy, it's not durable and may not necessarily be kosher with the GM. I'm kind of looking for something in print. Canon goes a lot farther than conjecture and all that.

I hate to have to point this out to you, but gold and platinum aren't durable at all either. Neither one would make a good weapon.

As far as being in print, I can't help you, since I don't have any of my books with me (they're all packed up in storage). Sorry. :(

I'm well aware that gold and platinum are both soft metals. According to the rules it is magically tempered to be made into weapons and armor. The armor gains resistances against specific attacks, but the weapons only get heavier. I will attempt to negotiate the creation of an oversized, overweight weapon of common steel. Thanks for your efforts though.

You could make the mace mercurial (or hammer for that matter). It would be an exotic to learn to wield it right though.

Side note : fixxer you move to Florida in hurricane season. Man I thought I was bad for moving into the northern Appalachian mountains in mid winter.
Good luck with your new realm.
