Point, on page 282 there is a change for pricing magic items based on limitations and requirements that the creator places on them. Point, if the item is one that occupies a specific place on a character’s body the cost of adding any additional ability to that item increases by 50%. Point, an Intelligent item requires a Caster Level of 15 to create. Question: 1. If I place, on the shiftweave, a racial and skill point requirement for the magic to work(( a net 40% reduction in magic item pricing )), would that count for the price limit in the feat? 2. In reference to Point3, does this effect the magic item created by the Ancestral Relic feat? 3. Does the CL15 requirement apply to the Ancestral Relic? 4. If the above is answered to be "Yes", then is it so for enhancing a magic weapon? (( ex,must be a level 5 or higher to place a +1 enhancement bonus on a magical suit of armor)) |
| Zuckerart09-12-05, 07:53 AM | Re 1: I think the general consensus is that the price reductions listed for limiting items to specific skills/classes/alignments are applied when you try to sell the item, not when you create the item. It's too open for abuse otherwise. re 2: If you add a different ability to an item that already has one or more, you pay 50% of the price for the cheapest one(s). This can mean paying 1.5* the normal price of the new ability, or the price for the new ability and 50% of the previous most expensive ability. Adding the same ability doesn't increase the price, so creating a set of bracer s that fires several different spells/day doesn't incur this penalty. So placing +4 STR in boots would cost you 16,000 * 1.5(uncustomary) = 24,000 gp. If you add +2 DEX to the same boots the price for that would be 4,000 * 1.5(uncustomary) = 6,000. Since the +2 DEX is cheaper than the +4 STR you multiply the +2 DEX price by 1.5 for a total of 9,000 gp. If you would now add Teleportation (49,000 gp) to the boots you would have to pay the 50% price increase for the +4 STR (i.e. 8,000 gp), because its no longer the most expensive enchantment. re 3 & 4: The CL mentioned in the requirement isn't one according to WotC. Check the DMG errata on their site. A specific level requirement (like 3 levels per +1 for weapons and armour) is still valid though. So you will need to be 9th level to make your clothes function like +3 armour |
