The War Pogo-Stick!

Exotic Weapon (two handed, melee)
med-1d4 small-1d3
crit-x2
bludgeoning
cost-100gp

This weapon is made up of a strong hardwood stick, footrests, and a heavy spring set into the bottom end.
It is used by having the user ride it by standing on the footrests and hopping up and down, landing on the enemy and then hopping back to the ground (or back onto the enemy if more attacks are permitted).
A balance check (dc-15?) is required each time an attack hits the opponent, or the rider falls off. A tumble check (dc-12) is made when the rider hits the ground. If successful, he lands on his feet.

Ok, this is what I have so far. I'm thinking about changing the tumble check to something else, and I'd like to know if the dc's are balanced.

One more complicated thing I was thinking of for the damage...something based on weight. Like, for a medium creature, it would deal 1d4 + (weight/ 40). Any input on this would be appreciated.

I think the damage is very low, but I don't think it should be directly done by weight.

Instead, simply having the size of it should be enough.

Also, I think that using this weapon should be a Full Round Action to get a single attack (Hoping on to them seems a lot of work).

The weapon also has a low crit range, and the tumble/balance stuff are other problems.

With these things in mind I would consider making it 2d8 for Medium and 2d6 for small.

I thought about increasing the damage die, but then I wondered if that would still be balanced after the weight damage.

And I think I'll change it to size. easier that way.

Anyone have any ideas for the balance/tumble part?
