okay, if I get the tower shield profiency do i taKe any penalties? i think I take -2 to my attack roles but i'm not sure, by Wee Jas send me a answer soon

Even if you are proficient, you take a -2 penalty on all attacks. I don't think there's any way to avoid that.

a -2 is paltry.

especially when you figure anybody using a Tower shield is on an AC tank build anyway (the things are just too impractical for anything else) a lowered attack isnt much.

just get weapon focus + masterwork for whatever you swing with to help offset, it'll do ya just fine.

A typical greatsword fighter will often get an animated shield... but never an animated tower shield because of the -2. With power attack and BAB of 11, that can be a difference of about 12 points of damage each round for the +2 AC.
