Don't make it continuous. That would fail royally. You get pimped over and now the cleric can't heal you cuz there's an antimagic field.

Make it 1 or 3/day. If you need more than 3 antimagic fields in a day you've got bigger problems.

If I recall, I once priced one at 198,000gp, just below Epic-level cost.

Bear in mind the tradeoff, though; no friendly buffs, no in-combat healing, no magical items to diversify your abilities, no magical weapons or armor, etc. And while it'll suppress the magic on any weapon, it won't suppress the magic affecting the creature wielding it, unless that creature is within 10' of you, making ranged combat and reach weapons wielded by Large or larger creatures a much more significant threat to you than otherwise.

10-05-06, 03:05 PM You used the price for Anti-Magic Field, which is the wrong spell. You need to price it based on Anti-Magic Aura. Anti-Magic Field is balanced by the fact that to get it, you must be a high level caster, so are giving up a lot.

Unless you are willing to require the wearer to be a 11th level Caster, it is not reasonable to let them use the 6th level spell. Anti-Magic Aura is identical to Anti-Magic Field, except it is 7th level and you can cast it on someone else, like the fighter. It is the appropriate spell to base pricing if the ring is wearable by a non-caster

Level x caster x continuous x duration-modifier
7 * 13*2000 * 1.5

= 273,000 gp

Why does it matter? Mainly because when you make it an x/day item, it gets within the price for a PC to buy.

7*13*1800/5 = 32,760 gp

1-3 times a day would certainly do. And I am ready ro spend 33000 for such a ring. Warblade's features are mostly (Ex) abilities, so I can bear non-magical weapons with me and thus I have money to spend. Surely not for every battle, but it helps against most dangerous creatures, including Beholders, Mind Flayers and such. And at sub-epic levels I gonna buy 3/day one just to feel safer.

10-05-06, 09:30 PM There is an item in the Underdark book that produces an Antimagic Field. I don't know if it is continuous or once per day, etc, but it is called a Torc of Antimagic I think.
