| BlackMage6407-26-05, 08:20 AM | I did have a book Gryphon's Armory that talked a little about how to alter blades ranging from making them serrated to materials and their bonuses Well my new DM just stated that these were out. So right now i am quite mad because i want to spend 2000 gold on a weapon no magic enhancements This is because I am making a Weapon of Legacy and for the item to be a candadite it has to be less than 4000 gold So a +1 enhancement on the item is 2000 gold leaving me with 2000 extra gold to be spent on th base item.... It is a longsword and I would like to upgrade it as much as I can. My DM would prefer to have them all from official books but I don't think that is possible so..... I just want to upgrade my longsword with w/e to make it good but each thing should be within reason if i can get it past my DM Ty for the help |

| tarkin07-26-05, 11:39 AM | Just make it out of an unusual metal. Solarian True Steel is 1,000 gp (+1 to confirm critical hits) Flametouched Iron is 1,500 gp (couns as good aligned for DR purposes) |
| BlackMage6407-26-05, 05:58 PM | John: No I don't but that is a good idea I will go look at that book thank you Tarkin: I would love to if I knew a book that gave different materials Those sound cool but not quite the thing I am looking for where did u get them are there more? |
| Lord Schpungus07-26-05, 06:25 PM | mithril, adamantine, and cold iron are in the SRD. Glassteel is in Races of Faerun, though I think it's fun anywhere. Pretty much every book that has equipment has new materials, especially Eberron and FR books. |
| Vaelan07-26-05, 07:25 PM | Remember that you don't actually have 2000gp to add to the price. The price of a magical weapon is the base price of the weapon plus 300 for being masterwork plus the price of the magical enhancement. If it were a longsword, a +1 Longsword actually costs 2315gp, so you couldn't make it out of a special material like Cold Iron or Adamantine and still qualify for making it a Weapon of Legacy. Deep Crystal from the Expanded Psionics Handbook costs 1,000gp and allows you to channel psionic energy through it to deal additional damage. Probably pretty much worthless to you. Byeshk from the Eberron Campaign Setting costs 1,500gp and a bludgeoning weapon made out of it gets +1 to damage. Flametouched Iron, which tarkin posted, is also from the Eberron Campaign Setting. Riedran Crysteel from the Eberron Campaign Setting costs 1,500gp and gives a psionic character +1 to damage rolls. This is also probably not of much use to you. Darksteel from Magic of Faerun costs 1,500gp and any weapon made of it deals a point of electricity damage upon a successful hit. Dlarun from Magic of Faerun costs 1,500gp and any weapon made of it deals a point of cold damage upon a successful hit. Fever Iron from Magic of Faerun costs 1,500gp and any weapon made of it deals a point of fire damage upon a successful hit. Hizagkuur from Magic of Faerun costs 1,500gp and any weapon made of it deals a point of fire damage and a point of electricity damage upon a successful hit. However, a weapon made from Hizagkuur can never be enchanted with any kind of cold properties. Living Metal from Magic of Faerun costs 100gp per pound of the item and naturally heals hitpoints over time. Dwarvencraft items from Races of Stone costs 600gp and gives an item +2 hardness, +10 hitpoints, and +2 to saving throws and stacks with the effects of magical enhancements on hardness, hitpoints, and saving throws. Solarian Truesteel, which tarkin has mentioned, is from the Book of Exalted Deeds. |
| BlackMage6407-27-05, 03:15 PM | I read yesterday that the metal of a weapon is the one exception to the 4000 gold rule. I says specifically that you can have any metal and that it doesn't penalize you |
