If I have a Alchemical Silver weapon and I don't want it vulnerable to sundering, what can I do to make it really hard to be sundered? Any enchantments that might help?

Bigger enchantment (+X) bonus means an increase in hardness and hp. It is possible to get a weapons hardness up high enough that Adamantine no longer can ignore it.

The Heavy Mace is king of the anti-sunder weapon group. Maximum hardness and maximum hp make sunder one a difficult task.

I believe there is a weapon enhancement somewhere that will automatically restore a sundered weapon.

That's actualy a special material. I would use that, except I need Alchemical Silver.

Um, don't use it? Silver should really be only used for two things: overcoming DR and flavor. So your options are (assuming the flavor one, as transmuting negates the need for any other DR overcoming material) are to make it more magical (higher enhancement bonus=more HP and hardness), put the Sundering enhancement on it (or take improved sunder, but why do that?) to up your anti-sunder attack roll, cast the spell that increases hardness (SpC? Harden?), or use that one other enhancement to increase hardness and HP, I can't remember if it even exists though, I might be making it up.

EDIT: He wasn't saying make it adamantine, he was saying adamantine would have a hard time going through it.

I do need it to overcome DR. Where is Transmuting from?

Magic Item Compendium. Put it on your normal sword, and that's all you'll ever need. Even overcomes DR/- as writen.

There's also a psionic power that can permamently increase/decrease an items hardness/hp, its called Matter Manipulation and its an 8th level power and can up the item's hardness by up to 5 points.

Dwarfcraft from races of stone, +2 to hardness and +5 or 10 to hp, cost more than masterwork but worth it.

Yeah, all you have to do is get the hardness up to 20 or more to prevent adamantine from automatically bypassing it. While it's not sunder-proof, it's certainly sunder-resistant.

As others have already stated I didn't recommend MAKING the weapon out of adamantine (although it works wonderfully against sunder) because you stated you're material was already fixed but I was just pointing out the counter to every sunder's favorite material.

I don't have the book but wasn't there something anti-sunder in the Exhaulted Deeds book?

okay 3 things,

1 a weapon can only be sundered by a weapon with equal or greater enhancement a +4 weapon can only be sundered by a +4 or 5 weapon

2 increase the hardness there are 3 ways wich increase hardness by 25 and hp by 10 all together

the harden spell from ebberon you can add +10 to hardness by having a 20 th level caster cast it on your weapon it is permanent cost very little less than 2000 i believe

matter manipulation from psionic handbook is quite a bit more expensive as it costs xp you have to pay for but it increase hardness by 5 and increases hp

adamantine weapon crystal greater adds 10 to hardness

3 buff your attack roll through what ever means neccassary to make sure he doesnt hit your weapon in the first place

okay 3 things,

1 a weapon can only be sundered by a weapon with equal or greater enhancement a +4 weapon can only be sundered by a +4 or 5 weaponThis rule was removed in 3.5. The one remaining trace of the rule in the DMG was excised by the DMG errata four years ago. It no longer applies. Any weapon can sunder any other, provided it can do enough damage.

3 buff your attack roll through what ever means neccassary to make sure he doesnt hit your weapon in the first placeThis is good advice. Sunder is an opposed roll; if your enemy loses the roll he does no damage to your weapon.

There's also a psionic power that can make a weapon whole again if the power is manifested within one round of the weapon being broken.

Aurorum special material is what you're looking for , Dman. If does nothing to protect against the act of sundering, but, as a full-round action, it reconstructs itself and is as good as new. I think I'll use that and get the Transmuting enchantment on it. Or, just get alchemical silver sheen.

Our campaign involves going into the 9 hells and offing the 9 archdevils. Frankly, I'm not so sure we can do it at our paltry level 17...

Uh, level up fast? If I remember correctly, the archdevils are something like CR 30 and lower though.

Greater Crystal of Adamant Weaponry. A weapon crystal for 3,400 gp that increases the hardness of your weapon by 10.
