| johniemi03-23-06, 02:13 AM | I made a STR-intensive Frenzied Berserker build that uses the Combat Brute feat's special ability Momentum Swing (Complete Warrior), that basically has me power attacking on a charge, to get my damage output up in a 1:3 ratio from the Power Attack on the next full attack (add FB Supreme Supreme Power attack 1:4, you have 1:7 power attack dmg on the round after the charge). So, as it looks like this build will be charging anything on sight, I would like to add some charge-specific feats on the character. Any ideas? -John |

For a normal character you basically make a jump check at the end of your charge and get a 4 for 1 on Power attack. Powerful Charge and Greater Powerful Charge (both in Eberron Campaign Setting) are good as well. With GPC, (if you are medium size), you'll be doing an extra 2D6 damage on a charge. The Heedless Charge component of Shock Trooper (Tactical Feat from Complete Warrior) allows you to take your power attack penalty from your AC instead instead of your Attack Bonus when charging. That's a MUST if you really need your first attack to hit. Also, take a look at my Myrmidon Prestige Class (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=421024). It's built around charging, though it's weapon selection and feat-intensive nature might not make it well suited for your Berserker character. |
| kjenks03-23-06, 01:52 PM | Leadership: Before your first charge attack, your cohort casts Fly on you so you can charge over obstacles. After your charge attack but before your next turn, your cohort casts Swift Fly, move up and tags you, then Dimension Doors you to a location where you can charge again the next round. A sorcerer or bard cohort could do this repeatedly. |
| Father Dale03-23-06, 10:33 PM | Leap Attack, Shock Trooper, and Karmic Strike (which requires dodge and combat expertise) Your AC will be crap, but you'll be dishing out so much damage that you'll make dragons cry. |
| IbanezNinja03-23-06, 11:31 PM | Not only will dragons cry, but your dm will too. :D But yeah, I'm gonna second shock trooper and leap attack, they are probably the best feats to suit your character. Also, you may want to check the character op boards, they are focused around stuff like this. |
| RLRapp03-24-06, 12:55 AM | You might also like this feat from the Expande psionics book. Reckless Offense [General] You can shift your focus from defense to offense. Prerequisite Base attack bonus +1. Benefit When you use the attack action or full attack action in melee, you can take a penalty of -4 to your Armor Class and add a +2 bonus on your melee attack roll. The bonus on attack rolls and penalty to Armor Class last until the beginning of your next turn. Basically fight defensively reversed. |
| Oswald Krato03-24-06, 04:58 PM | I was almost hoping this was a mounted charge feat thing. Oh well. stuff people have mentioned before...and my personal favorite combo with charge-psychos. Spring Attack + Great Cleave You charge, attack, keep moving because of spring attack, get more attacks because of great cleave. At least, that's one interpretation. |
| Ithamar03-24-06, 05:47 PM | You cannot combine Spring Attack and Charge, as a Charge is a full round action. |
| yourReality03-24-06, 07:35 PM | um... no feat advice. but depending what lvl you are. Rhino Hide armor (DMG) is a great item to have (+2d6 dmg on successful charge) |
| Kresalak03-24-06, 09:18 PM | A tenth level psychotic murder frenzied berserker, using Leap Attack and a Valorous (a +1 enchantment that doubles damage on a charge) weapon will have, due to D&Ds stacking rules on multipliers, an 8:1 Power Attack ratio. 4:1 from Supreme Power Attact->6:1 with Valorous->8:1 Leap Attack. At level 20, that's +100 damage on a charge from Power Attack alone. Also, you're doing x2 your normal damage on that charge. |
| johniemi03-25-06, 02:11 AM | A tenth level psychotic murder frenzied berserker, using Leap Attack and a Valorous (a +1 enchantment that doubles damage on a charge) weapon will have, due to D&Ds stacking rules on multipliers, an 8:1 Power Attack ratio. 4:1 from Supreme Power Attact->6:1 with Valorous->8:1 Leap Attack. At level 20, that's +100 damage on a charge from Power Attack alone. Also, you're doing x2 your normal damage on that charge. Yes, this is already what I have done (SPA+Valorous+Leap attack). Although the description on Valorous says that it deals double damage on a charge, so I interpret it so that it doubles all damage on a charge (like a critical hit). But what do you mean by "Also, you're doing x2 your normal damage on that charge."? I thought charging only gives you +2 to hit, and -2 to AC for 1 round. -John |
| Kresalak03-25-06, 11:26 AM | Valorous doubles all damage on a charge that would normally be doubled. Oh yeah, and on a crit with that charge you're getting a 10:1 ratio. 12:1 with a x3 crit weapon. |
