Lafarallin 06-01-07, 06:25 PM	Looking at taking: Dual Strike Prerequisites: Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Two-Weapon Fight Benefit: As a standard action, you can make a melee attack with your primary weapon and your off-hand weapon. Both attacks use the same attack roll to determine success, using the worse of the two weapon's attack modifiers. If you are using a one-handed or light weapon in your primary hand and a light weapon in your off hand, you take a -4 penalty on this attack roll; otherwise you take a -10 penalty. Each weapon deals its normal damage. Damage reduction and other resistances apply separately against each weapon attack. Special: When you make this attack, you apply precision-based damage (such as from sneak attack) only once. If you score a critical hit, only the weapon in your primary hand deals extra critical hit damage, your off-hand weapon deals regular damage. My question, if I take this build and get people to provoke attacks of opportunity, could I use this to attack them with it? It is considered a "melee" attack....so any reason I couldn't? Had though about using trip and such maneuvers, possibly mageslayer, and fighting with two light handed weapons. EDIT: The feat is from the Complete Adventurer. I posted here because it is more combat related AoO, then feat related but I guess it could have went either way.

From rules listed on the main page: You can use any special attack that you can use as a melee attack as an attack of opportunity. That includes disarming, grabbing someone to grapple, sunder, or trip. In the case of a trip attack, you must make the trip attack with whatever weapon you're using to threaten the area where you're making the attack of opportunity. Isn't dual strike a special attack?
mobius2702 06-02-07, 02:50 AM	Yeah, I think you're looking for double strike or double hit or double something out of mini's handbook. (It might have been reprinted in a newer book, but I know it is in mini's handbook).
Kyaran 06-02-07, 07:48 AM	Double Hit is a feat from Miniatures Handbook that allows you to also strike with your offhand weapon as part of an attack of opportunity. This sounds like what you're after. The feat originally listed, Dual Strike, allows you to make a single attack with both of your weapons as a standard action. The text regarding special attacks and attacks of opportunity is referring to the Special Attacks section of the PHB. All of those that qualify for use in attacks of opportunity are specified "as a melee attack" not "as a standard action". The critical thing is to understand the difference between a standard action and a melee attack. A standard action allows you to make a single attack, activate a magic item, cast a spell, etc. A melee attack can be a standard action, but it can also be part of a full-round action such as a full attack or a charge. This is the same confusion that often arises over using Rapid Shot and Manyshot together. One gives you a new standard action option that fires multiple arrows, the other adds an arrow to a full attack.
