If my character is surrounded my bad guys with reach and i cast a spell or move 5 feet out of a threatened square, by multiple enemies, can all the bad guys that surround me take attacks of opportunity or can only one take the attack of opportunity, until i create another situation were another one can take an attack of opportunity

I thought only one creature could take an attack of opportunity and once they do the other creatures cannot take attack of opportunity until the next offence. However i read the book and could not find this rule anywhere at all. I going crazy?

Could someone point me to the rule that stats how attack of opportunity works when multiple creatures can take the attack of opportunity? do they all take one or does only one creature take the attack of opportunity?

Sorry for the repeated convulsion

They all get a shot at you. Dont cast a spell when surrounded unless you do it defensively or you will get very hurt.

see i wasent sure... i think it was a bad habbit picked up from my first dm who used a bastardized 3.0 / 3.5 so i wasent sure what was from him and what was 3.5. IF this is true what you say its better to have found out now then later.

Note: casting a spell provokes attacks of opportunity in your situation. Taking a 5 foot step does NOT provoke attacks of opportunity. so, take the step, and be careful about the spellcasting.

i know. i ment 5 feet of moment not a 5 foot step. so all creatures that can take an attack of opertunity, share and each creature attacks?

Every creature is allowed an AoO, if you move out of a square threatened by it or if you perform an action inside it. So if they have you surrounded, you are in a bad position.
For a while you can use defensive casting to avoid the AoO, but in high levels expect many NPCs and monsters to have the Spellcasting Harrier feat (on the other hand, if you can survive the damage, its usually not going to interrupt you either).

Imagine the hue and cry, if one PC gets an AoO on the retreating bad guy, and everyone else is told off :)

They don't "share" the attack of opportunity. They each have their own. If you are surrounded by 8 orcs and you do something to provoke, you've (in essence) provoked 8 different attacks of opportunity - one from each orc that threatened you while you performed the provoking action (casting a spell, drinking a potion, moving, etc).

You provoke attacks of opportunity from anyone who currently threatens you when you take the provoking action. A better way of thinking about it is that if a creature threatens someone and they provoke an AoO, the creature has the option of making an AoO (see AoO rules near start of PH chapter 8). Once viewed from the perspective of the threatening creature rather than the provoker, it is obvious that if you provoke multiple creatures then they all have the option of hitting you.

Note that the standard per-character AoO limits apply: only 1 per turn (exception: Combat Reflexes), and they have the option of not taking their AoO when provoked.

As mentioned, if multiple creatures threaten you, you either need a very good AC or you need to take a 5 ft. step or withdraw before doing anything that would provoke an AoO. If you're surrounded, you probably won't get out of range of all of them, but at least the number of attacks is reduced. Remember that withdraw is a full round action, and only prevents you from provoking AoOs when you leave the original square. Any other squares you leave provoke AoOs as normal.

Note that not all actions that can provoke AoOs do so from all threatened enemies.

Making an Unarmed Attack, Grapple attempt, Sunder Attempt, Trip Attempt, or Disarm Attempt only provokes an AoO from the enemy you make the attempt against if you lack the Improved (Action) feat. This is an exception to the rule.

Yeah - don't forget the Withdraw action. Also don't forget that it only prevents AoO when leaving the first square. After that, you're going to provoke for movement along the rest of your path.
