Okay, i can't find it anywhere. What kind of action is it to apply poison to a weapon? Can you do something like this WHILE hiding or something?

Applying poison is a standard action, although I think the special ability "poison use" allows you to apply a poison as a move equivalent (as well as not chance poisoning yourself on application or a roll of natural 1).

It's a standard action, like applying an oil. Some classes, like the Assassin and Ninja, gain Improved Poison Use which reduces it to a move action.

I don't see why you couldn't apply poison while hidden.

thanks! another couple questions. You take the %5 risk of having to make the save yourself when applying poison to a weapon, got it.

Though, do you also take that risk when using a weapon that's poisoned?

What if you merely pick up a weapon that is poisoned?

If you do have to make that check when using the weapon, do you make the percentage roll every attack you make, once per combat, or just once overall?

http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/theraven_stephenh/ctypes/Poison.html

"A character has a 5% chance of exposing himself to a poison whenever he applies it to a weapon or otherwise readies it for use. Additionally, a character who rolls a natural 1 on an attack roll with a poisoned weapon must make a DC 15 Reflex save or accidentally poison himself with the weapon."

So you have a 5% chance when you apply (unless your an assassin or something similar) and if you roll a natural 1 on an attack roll you have to make the DC 15 reflex save.

The thing I don't like about poisons: "One dose of poison smeared on a weapon or some other object affects just a single target. A poisoned weapon or object retains its venom until the weapon scores a hit or the object is touched (unless the poison is wiped off before a target comes in contact with it)."

Assassins don't get it. One of the game design reasons I don't like ninja. They're better than the iconic master poisoners.

I don't mind this. I think the alternative is tracking reduced effacacy as the weapon swings, as it hits, etc. One dose lasts until is hits something and then it is effectively gone is an easier to manage mechanic.

and "readies it for use". So if the poisoned sword it put in its scabbard, then later pulled out again, that requires another roll. I also absorb from that that one doesn't risk poisoning themselves if they were to just move the weapon (as any other delicate object) without necessarily preparing it for battle.

thanks for all your feedback
