| Arcane_Phoenix03-21-06, 10:29 PM | Hi, what in your opinion, is the best possible gear for an arcane archer? Thanks |
| Mitchell03-21-06, 10:41 PM | The primary concern is to get the best mighty composite longbow that you can effectively use. After that, I would look for Ehlonna's Quiver (efficient quiver in the SRD, I think). A +dex item or anything that improves your archery overall is also obvious. A decent melee weapon never hurts, and a small weapon just in case you get swallowed by something, but everything else is just everything else. |
| Rowan_Whispercloak03-21-06, 11:02 PM | an extra bow of lower power than the other incase of sunder. |
| Yak of Darkness03-21-06, 11:17 PM | Get a big-ass composite longbow that has just a +1 actual enhancement bonus, with every other "plus" spent on special abilities. Then, find the Quiver of Anariel (sp?) on this site (if you haven't seen it, I'm sure someone here has the link saved), which gives you infinite arrows of a certain type. When you get the funding, pick up three quivers--one of infinite nonmagical adamantine arrows, one of infinite nonmagical cold iron arrows, and one of infinite nonmagical silver arrows. Your AA abilities will boost your attack and damage rolls, your bow will add all kinds of nifty abilities to your attacks, and the quivers will let you handle all material-based DR at your leisure. Good times. |
| Prominence03-22-06, 08:27 AM | +1 mighty (+5) splitting exit wounds composite Elvencraft longbow with any other +4 enhancements of your choice or +1 might (+5) Acidic Burst, Flame Burst, Icy Burst, shocking burst, random+1 composite elvencraft longbow -requires wand of hunter's mercy and deepwood sniper though. Bracers of Archery are nice too. |
| StevenO03-22-06, 07:53 PM | A +1 Bow with all the extra enhancement you can get. I'd like at least HOLY. A Quiver of Ehlonna or similiar high capacity quiver loaded with mundane arrows made of special materials. Any Archery/DEX enhancing items you may find. Some method of flying that allows you to fire your bow. As long as you have ammo and your opponent can't reach you they are the one in the bad situation. |
| ClementWillowbreaker03-22-06, 08:01 PM | If you really want to outfit your AA, the first thing to do is pick up... a better PrC for 3.5. It's a wasted effort to even try the Arcane Archer in the DMG. Pretty much every spell-like ability it has can be replaced by a bow enchantment (and infinite times per day, to boot). |
| Arcane_Phoenix03-23-06, 08:11 PM | Thats foolish the d&d owners wouldnt just leave a Prc like that if it sucked like u say.And anyways what enchants r u thinking u can get on a bow that AA's get as a spell? |
| ClementWillowbreaker03-23-06, 09:17 PM | I'll tell you as soon as you start putting vowels and constenents together. Why should I bother locating pages for you when you can't be bothered to find all the letters on the keyboard? As for why they left it, they did so because it was a copy-paste from 3.0 and no one bothered to read the new rules for arrow enhancements and the AA within an hour of one-another to see its effectiveness was halved. |

Seriously, who asked you to bash this guy's chosen class? Either answer his question with some distance to his point, or go strut your macho "proper english" lovin' arse somewhere else. The nerve! Oh yeah, did I put my "vowels and constenents together" properly enough for you to even read this post? |
