Are druids limited by... [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-22-05, 01:29 PM Are druids limited by the fact they can't equip metal armor or weaponry?

Can you give me a few examples of how they can still be effective without metal weapons and armor? Special non-metallic armors and weapons?

Also, do druids rely to much on wildshape, for melee and spell casting? Or are they effective in there normal form aswell? I don't have any of the books, so I was just wondering.

03-22-05, 01:35 PM Druids aren't prohibited from using any weapons, they just start with only a few, specific proficiencies. Armor-wise, they're best off with Hide armor until Dragonhide Breastplate or Fullplate (depending on their Dex) can be found.

03-22-05, 03:39 PM Since druids melee usually while in wildshape, the armor is not that important. When a druid wears prohibited armor, he loses all abilities for 24 hours.

Many druids talk their DMs into letting them have all kinds of wooden armor, as if they would still play RoleMaster where lots of special materials were around. Once they get Ironwood (6th level spell) this is not important anyway, as the spell allows to create steel-like armors.
