| XrP-Leon The Second10-07-05, 11:08 PM | I'm making a mounted character, and the lance appealed to me. I was wondering if there was a weapon, most likely exotic, that had 10' reach, and double damage when used on a charge. Another question: It says that you may use a lance 1 handed while mounted. Now, with this, you loose the 1.5X damage, and have a lower power attack output, correct? It also says 'may', so, while unrealistic, you could weild a lance two handed while charging on a mount to retain the twohanded effects in-game, correct? What is and where is a Valorous weapon? Thanks for any help guys. |

MMM thats a tough one try looking in the Oriental Adventures for an Uma-yari (its a Lance, heavy) There are no other lances in 3.0 or 3.5 and I actually looked at some OGL publishes as well. But the lance does 2x damage on a charge power attack = if you use the lance in one hand (which in jousting is actually what you are doing because you kinda lock it in the shield "dip") you then would subtract 1 point of hit bonus and then get 1 point of damage bonus no more that your BAB can be exchanged.. What the deal is if you had the lance in both hands you would then subtract 1 point of hit bonus and then get 2 points of damage bonus no more than your BAB can be exchanged. Also look at feats like these.... Spirited Charge - 3x damage on charge not 2x Trample is nice Monkey Grip - actually having the last doing 2d6 instead of d8 is really nice Cavalry Charger |

The 2nd Edition of the game book (3.5 compatible) has two lances: the Dornish horse lance (lots of damage, shorter reach) and the Sarcosan lance (less damage, but can be thrown from the back of a charging mount and still get double damage) |

But, assuming I screw reality and go all in game, I coudl still do my 1:2 power attack while charging on a horse, because I'm holding it two hadned, right? I have no access to the Midnight campaign setting, at all. If it's OGL can you give me the specs? |

Well yes I would say if I was your DM, but the penalty I would impose is that you strap yourself to the saddle, which was done also in those days.. Or if you don't like the idea that the horse and you are "one" I would impose Ride check mods and such... |
