| tarkin04-06-05, 12:48 PM | None that I know of. You most probably are asking regarding TWF purposes. The advice I offer to you for those purposes is to look into a Sunblade (counts as light, damage as normal) |
| ehrin04-06-05, 01:24 PM | Continual flame works pretty well to light a weapon. |
| Darazel04-06-05, 01:57 PM | :heehee |
| Ramsey04-06-05, 02:53 PM | How about making it out of mithral? Seems obvious to me... |
| Yobgod Ababua04-06-05, 07:14 PM | How about making it out of mithral? Sorry, mithril only changes the weight of a weapon, not it's size category. Remember that "light" isn't really an indication of weight as it is a classification of how it can be used. Accept the trade-offs inherent in the system as written. If you *really* want a "light" version of a 1H weapon, pick the closest light weapon's stats and change the name. As someone mentioned earlier, the sunblade is another excellent option. |
| unusualsuspect04-06-05, 07:16 PM | As a house rule, I'd say making weapons out of mythril might reasonably allow the weapon to decrease one difficulty level. Of course, since Mithril doesn't by RAW do that, I might also add a -1 damage penalty to bludgeoning weapons. If its light enough to be weilded easier, its lost a bit of damage potential. |
| Endarire04-06-05, 07:24 PM | What about Halfweight from Underdark? -EE |
| Rulebook04-07-05, 12:50 AM | well, if youre working armor, Halfweight is fine. For weapons though, its a different story. |
| Nom04-07-05, 02:00 AM | I wanted to light longsword without it becoming smaller. Are there weapon enhancements that will make it possible???Thanks. If yes,pls state the book it is from. :)Let me ask a different question: Why do you want to do this? As far as I can tell, there are three reasons to have a light weapon: * TWF off-hand weapon * Use in grapple * Finessable In general, going from Medium to Light drops the damage die one size, which is on average 1 point of damage. Unless you are into disarming or Power Attack, a +1 shortsword is all-round a better weapon than a conventional longsword. The other possibility that I can think of is that you want to TWF with (say) longsword/longsword, to benefit from Weapon Focus and family. There is a feat in (I believe) Complete Adventurer that allows a one-handed off-hand weapon to be treated as light. Alternatively, I recommend the "weapon style" houserule: rather than take Weapon Focus in a particular weapon, it can be taken in a two-weapon style (eg rapier/shortsword). This provides the benefits of weapon focus to both the listed weapons but only when the attacker has that particular combination equipped. It is permissible to have the off-hand weapon merely held in hand (ie not taking TWF penalties), but the off-hand arm may not be used for anything that would prevent the off-hand weapon being used to attack (eg gaining AC bonus from a buckler). Advantage: gain WF with dissimilar TWF weapons. Disadvantage: must always wield that pairing to gain advantage. |
| JadeSpider964304-07-05, 02:24 AM | weapon categories like "light" or "two-handed" refer as much to size as they do to weight. Imagine a regular dagger...it's pretty light, you can twist and turn it quickly, change the direction it's pointing at a whim. Now picture a 5 foot long sword, regardless of its weight, it will be difficult to manuver it the same way you did the dagger. you don't have to fight just the weight of the sword, you have to fight the inertia you put into it when you swing it. Even if it's light as a feather, it will still hold all the inertia that you put into it. that's why when a Medium creature weilds a Large Light weapon it becomes a One-handed weapon, not because of the size of the grip or anything, simply because of the BULK of the weapon. |
| Dumble04-08-05, 02:29 AM | if your charc. is gnome or halfling, then answer would be yes. Hornblade special weapon ability. it allows then to treat weapon one size category smaller as it is. It is from Races of Faerun. page. 171. and it is only +1 bonus.. :D :D :D |
