Is there a formula for finding the speed reduction of Armor?

I have a Centaur as a PC, that is buying a breastplate.
His base speed is 50. The PHB has the speed for a base of 30 being at 20,
and a base of 20 being 15.

Seems like it boils down like this:
Base Speed
10 10
20 15
30 20
40 25
50 30
60 35

Seems like base - ((base-10)/10)*5 or
50-(50-10)=40/10=4*5=20 or 50-20=reduced speed of 30.

This seems like it might be correct if you follow the pattern started, but I have no idea if this is correct.

Can someone enlighten me? Thanks.

You got it close. Check the carrying and movement section of the SRD:

http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/carryingAndExploration.html

Your speed would go from 50ft to 35 ft.

Looks like the formula is: encumbered speed = base speed x .7, rounded to the nearest 5'.

Looks like the formula is: encumbered speed = base speed x .7, rounded to the nearest 5'.

I was trying to figure out a formula. That helps but does not work for a base of 90'.
90*.7=63 and if rounded to nearest 5' should be 65.

But that formula is the closest I have so far.

Thanks.

Encumbered base speed is two-thirds of unencumbered base speed, round to nearest.

That covers all except 40', which for some reason rounds up to 30' and not down to 25'.

Ok
That seems to confirm what I figured out.
THERE IS NO CLEAR PATTERN OR FORMULA FOR THIS !

Thanks to all.
