Both grant armor bonuses, and similarly named bonuses (here, "armor" bonuses) do not stack (with at least one exception: dodge bonuses do stack). So only the better of the two applies -- in this case, the mage armor bonus of +4.

Inigo Carmine 04-07-05, 05:31 PM	no. The +2 on the padded armor enhances the padded armor, making it give a +3 armor bonus to you. +2 padded armor doesn't give you a +1 armor bonus and a +2 enhancement bonus.

Which is important on the high-end game or else the enhancement from a magical shield wouldn't stack with the enhancement from magical armor. If the names are getting to you, you have two alternatives: 1) Consider "enhancement" on armors to be a meta-name; only the highest "armor" bonus counts to your AC, and only the highest "enhancement" bonus applies to your "armor" bonus. 2) Use the optional rule where the magical bonus from armor is a "deflection bonus"; this allows the enhancement to stack with other sources of armor, at the cost of being incompatible with magical rings.
