The most common ones being: Bracers of Armor Ring of Protection Bracers of Dexterity Amulet of Natural Armor Monk's Belt If your character can't wear armor because he's a arcane caster, a twillight mithral chain shirt would work, and can be worn by a spellcaster with any penalties, including ASF. The twillight property is in the PH2. |

Failing that you may want to get a friendly caster something that can cast Mage Armor on you multiple times. Granted the +1 and +2 Bracers are cheaper getting a Wand of Mage Armor cast at 8th level is only 6000 gp which amounts to 120 per charge for eight hours of use with a +4 armor bonus while 9000 gp gets you +3 Bracers. If you are just looking for ways to increase your AC without concern for the type of bonus Firecave has good suggestions. |

In fact, using the guidelines from the DMG, you may enhance any "wondrous item" into having an AC bonus up to 10, plus an additional 5 in non-numeric enhancements. Check the rules for epic crafting for that. Also, a weapon with the defending quality is quite useful. You can use all your bonus (up to +5 for non-epic weapons) as AC instead of attack. You can use several of these at once to boost your AC high. There's a fun thread about it in the magic section. |
