If I can't (which seems to be the case), can I instead "drop" the light fortification when adding the moderate fortification? For example- I had a +2 light fortification armor. It's price is +3 eqivalent. Now, I want it to be moderately fortified. Can I drop the light (now the armor is +2), and so it is cheaper to make(like a +5 armor, not +6)? |

It just seems to me that by the flavor of the improved versions of enchantments (fortification, elemental resistances, shadowed, etc), you could choose to improve them later. It may not be by the book, and some DMs would rule that you'd have to follow RAW and sell the old and buy new, but IMO going from Light Fortification > Mod. Fort. is different than replacing Light Fort. with Ghost Touch. On ya, as a side note to this.. Book of Exalted Deeds has a special material called Ysgardian Heartwire. Grants +2 AC vs rolls to confirm criticals. Although it would be useless with Heavy Fort, it may help with Mod. Fort. And the reason I brought it up is that since it's supposed to be extra protection at vital areas - I'd rule that it is something that you could "upgrade" your armor with. |
