I have some gold in my pocket (somewhere around 60-65K) and a chance to upgrade some armor. I have celestial armor currently, and would like to put some upgrades on that.

Our party has reason to believe that we may soon be facing hordes of demons, which will probably represent the final phase in the campaign.

I am considering "soulfire", a +4 enhancement from BED that grants continuous immunity to death effects, level drain and negative energy attacks.

Very useful against undead, my question is how useful against demons? Other than the succubus I don't recollect any of them using energy drain, or particularly focusing on death effects. Will I be wasting my time ( and gold) with this enhancement?

The players in my campaign have been fighting devils since day one of the campaign - so this is similar to the issue they are facing - they just don't have the gold to manage it well.

First thing that comes to mind is a reasonable spell resistance. Since the demons have a wide array of spell-like abilities, the higher you can get this the better. Barring SR, get some good save-increasing items, especially for will.

Next up is some sort of resistance to fire. If you have spells that you can burn to emulate this - do so (since a "cheap" ring of fire resistance is still 16k).

Last, improve your ac as much as possible. If you are able to get the previous two items in other forms, get your armor up to a +3 or better with the remaining money. Get other wondrous items to improve your ac.

Hope some of this helps

Definately helps:

That was another possible direction for me...going "death ward" + 1 EB, then fire and electric resistance, perhaps with a +1 AC bonus...

You can make items however you want, you know. You just need the proper spells and feats. In a campaign I used to be in, that revolved around demons and devils, our cleric had Protection from Evil put on his sheild. Personally, I'd have Magic Circle Against Evil put on mine armor, if the DM allows it.
