Spartan War Gear.
Functions like Studded Leather Armor from PHB but is made of metal and can be any special metal substance(mithral and so on)

This set of protective items includes a Helm, Vambraces(metal arm-guards) Protective Metal and leather boots, and a Long Cloak.

Just thought I'd throw this out their for people who are looking for gear to make a Spartan like character...

Any complaints?

Yes. You're pretty much making the irrelevant peripherals (helmet, light limb defenses) included in the D&D armour classes into the equivalents of a full suit of armour, entirely by fiat.

Vambraces do give an Armor Bonus of +1, only they are called Daishin (or somthing like that) and they are found in the OA, there are also rules for a Cloak that gives an AC or Shield Bonus of +1 in one of the Races books.

Also in OA their is Mirrored Armor, turn that into a Torc and their is another +1 AC (Stacks with Vambracers and the Cloak), now enhance them all to +5 and stand staunchly.

Leave it to WotC to get inconsistent with its own armour system. Anyway, while you're at it why not just stick some sort of permanent illusion spell on proper armour if beefcake is a must ? "Macho Leathers" and "Chainmail Bikini", as GURPS Magic Items called those...

Assuming you wanted to go with 300's "I have pecs so tough they can turn steel" instead of the traditional cuirass, just go for gloryborn armor in the DMG2. It is quite literally the chainmail bikini of D&D -- it deliberately looks like it's lacking key protective components and flaunts your body to your opponents, all the while encouraging you to charge your foes like a berserker.

That or be a warblade with the various DR-granting Stone Dragon manuvers.
