| Rowan_Whispercloak10-23-06, 03:56 PM | What level are you? Basically you aren't going to have the high armor class of a Heavy Armored Fighter, but you can get decent armor bonuses by stacking numerous minor items. If your Dex mod is +6 or less go for a mithral chain shirt. Get a ring of protection, amulet of natural armor. If you don't fight with two weapons get a buckler. A defending weapon could be helpful, but then you are giving up more of you attack bonus to you armor class. Use the tumble skill, don't stay in one place and take a beating. The Spring Attack feat is a good investment to help keep you out of harms way, generally you will be giving up the full attack, but most foe will have to do so as well to come get you. Work with your other melee members of the party if you know a sneak attack will get the enemy attention on you then want to use it fight defensively and use the aid another action. If you can are taking a beating maybe another character will use the aid another to help your AC until you can retreat. Just some advice, hope it help you out. I didn't come off as too pushy or offensive in this post did I? I hope not. Good gaming. |

Basically you aren't going to have the high armor class of a Heavy Armored Fighter, but you can get decent armor bonuses by stacking numerous minor items. He could quite easily get an armour class as high as an armoured Fighters. O.o Mithril full plate and mithril chain mail (assuming full Dex) gives only 1 point of AC lower. Your main problem will be lack of HP compared to a Fighter (who usually gets hit more anyway, as his touch AC sucks) What're your stats? You'll probably want to get a buckler, even if you TWF. Get Improved Buckler Defense. You can wear a +5 Buckler, +6AC, with a -1 to attacks in the off-hand. Or get yourself Exotic Armour Proficiency: Gnomish Battle Cloak. Gives the same bonus as a buckler. |
| Necropolitan10-23-06, 09:43 PM | Isn't a Mithral Breastplate Light armor? Mithral with the Shadow or Nimble enhancements are your friends here. |
| runestar10-23-06, 10:01 PM | What's your dex mod? I am guessing you should have outgrown conventional armour by this time. Stick to bracers of armour instead. Items/potions that grant concealment bonuses can be very useful as well. |

If you have a high Wis, or a Periapt of Wisdom, take a dip into Monk and get Wisdom to AC, or buy a Monks belt. Or if you stick to light armour, a dip into Swordsage. |
| tyribbit10-23-06, 11:38 PM | Str ----------13 ---------------+2 Dex ---------26---------------+8 Con ---------14---------------+3 Int-----------16-------------- +4 Wis----------13---------------+2 Cha----------8---------------- -1 |
| Ryu Katsuragi10-24-06, 12:54 AM | You've got your stats a little wrong there, mate. 13 is a +1, 14 is a +2, and 16 is a +3. Eh... With stats like that, I'd ditch armour. Go for Bracers of Armour, and a Monks belt. Invest in a Periapt of Wisdom +6, which'll be another +3. |
| Seerow10-24-06, 12:59 AM | A +8 dex mod? I'd suggest a +5 Nimble Mithral Chain Shirt. At least I think it was Nimble. I'm tired and that name sounds wrong for some reason, but I mean the enhancement that gives +2 to max dex mod. +8 Dex mod, +9 AC. Nab yourself a Ring of Protection and Amulet of Natural Armor, you should be beating out the Fighter for AC at this point. |
| runestar10-24-06, 01:06 AM | A +8 dex mod? I'd suggest a +5 Nimble Mithral Chain Shirt. I would suggest spidersilk armour from Underdark. +3AC, +8 max dex mod.:) That it is exotic armour is irrelevant when the masterwork quality nullifies the armour check penalty of -1 anyways. |
| Seerow10-24-06, 01:14 AM | Eh. I'll pay the +1 enhancement bonus for an extra +1 armor bonus, especially as a 16th level character, but whatever suits ya. |
| Ocom10-24-06, 01:38 AM | Spidersilk from Underdark.. why? for a mere 1000gp you can get: Nightscale Armor +2AC does not compete in any way but the max Dex of +10 sure does. With no Armor Check penalty and a mere 5% arcane spell failure and all that in a light, 3lb package. Also be sure to pick up the extra Muffling- an extra +2 circumstance bonus to Move Silently won't hurt you, and at a price of 300gp it's a killer deal. but remember... Bracers of armor improves your AC but Armors have special abilities... Get both! |
