| Wobberjacky08-22-05, 09:42 PM | I believe it's generally agreed upon on these boards that A&E is among the largest sources of broken material in 3Ed/3.5 D&D. My questions involve, having not really pored over the entire thing myself, precisely what parts of it are so dubious? I can certainly remember some wonderous items that were way, way underpriced, but is that all there is to the bah-rokenness? Specifically, I'd like opinions on whether the various new armor types (Moon-ivy, stone, etc) and material types (heartwire, dark leaf, etc) are priced correctly. If they are not, does anyone have suggestions for alternate pricings? I'd really like to allow these materials and such to a campaign to add some variety and flavor to the PCs equipment. Aside from that, are there any other portions of the book that seemed to be priced fairly or arn't otherwise broken? Thanks in advance. Cheers. |

We had a fighter that was a fighter specialist back in 3.0 and he was trying to rape those rules so he'd just upsize daggers to medium for a one-handed D8 throwing weapon that could be used in melee and was cheaper than a longsword. We kicked him really fast though. |

Just about any supplement beyond the core rules has broken and overpowered aspects. The "complete" series are easily the very worst. It's the DM's job to keep things in check. The armors are not broken or overpowered for the most part. Some do allow a very low arcane spell failure but there are other books that allow you to even ignore it. There are a number of "overpowered" items in it and a few that are broken. My copy is not with me at the moment but I'll get back to you when I get it again. |
