What would be the damage of arrows used in melee? I think they would be 1d4-1 20/x2 with a -1 to hit and would break on a critical or a 1. Your thoughts?

Arrows
An arrow used as a melee weapon is treated as a light improvised weapon (-4 penalty on attack rolls) and deals damage as a dagger of its size (critical multiplier ×2)... An arrow that hits its target is destroyed; one that misses has a 50% chance of being destroyed or lost.

Also in the PHB, pg.114

EDIT: beaten to it!

Don't forget that Drunken Masters instead use their unarmed strike damage, as arrows (and bolts, if you'd prefer them) are improvised weapons. Which makes for some fairly cheap melee weapons.

Something to consider when using an arrow/bolt as a melee weapon is whether it is destroyed after a successful hit - does this apply to melee attacks as well as ranged attacks? It's up to the DM's interpretation, and it can obviously affect your strategy.

They would have to be destroyed, otherwise you could have them enchanted for 1/50th the price of a dagger and have a spanking new +5 vorpal hand-held weapon for just 4,000gp...
