the 3.5 srd references an "assassin's dagger" that is +2 and has the special ability that it adds +1 to the fortitude save to resist the assassin's death attack. the weapon is priced like a +3 weapon. I have heard that one cannot reverse engineer weapon abilities, but would making a +1 dagger with +5 to fort save vs assassin's death attack be a +6 weapon? can that be added to other weapons? what of ranged weapons? death attack states on melee attacks, but i believe there are spells that allow you to make a death attack from within 30ft? thanx in advance

i just htought of this, but since the idea is for a gestalt character that has full wizard progression on the one side and somehting(probably rogue) to assassin progression on the other, can it be added to a rod, as some rods say they can be used as weapons. e.g. a metamagic rod of quickening that acts like a heavy mace with a +5 to assassin's death attack dc, and would it then also have to act like a +1 mace. does the cost for making the item get evaluted seperately and hten summed, or is it a lot more expensive to make it a magical weapon since it is already a magical rod? hopefully i am being clear.

No, the benefits for a raised save DC are exponential, so such the price be.

basically this is what I want to do.

rod of lesser metamagic, quicken, that can be used as a +5 dagger and adds +5 bonus to the DC of a Fortitude save forced by the death attack of an assassin.

the lesser metamagic, quicken, costs 35,000
assuming, and this is a big assumption, that the bonus to the assassin's death attack is at a 1 to 1 ratio, as the srd seems to imply with the assassin's dagger, the weapon bonus's cost 200,000.

I do not know how much it costs to make a rod also act like a weapon. I do not know how much it costs to add those two magical qualities together, as they are not related and the item does not take up a slot on the body. Any help would be appreciated.

Note: This is for a gestalt character, I know that an assassin cannot use the quicken ability because it casts like a bard.
