| Dunelord05-01-05, 08:01 AM | No to both. It reads "provides a +1 bonus to the DC of a Fortitude save forced by the death attack of an assassin" not that it grants one. See 3.5 DMG page 226. "Spells or magical effects usually work as described, no matter how many other spells or magical effects happen to be operating at the same time." "Spells that provide bonuses... saving throws... usually do not stack with themself." So since two effects are from the same sourse the don't stack. Besides how could you use two daggers to preform a sneak attack? |
| roguegolem05-01-05, 08:28 AM | I thought this because it said "provides a +1 bonus to the DC Fortitude save forced by the death attack of an assassin." Every other Specific Weapon that has an effect similar to the Assassin's Dagger states specifically how to activate it's ability. For example Dagger of Venom, the weapon directly below the Assassin's Dagger says "Upon a creature struck by the blade" Meaning when you attack a foe. Even below that the Dwarven Thrower says "In the hands of a dwarf" Meaning you have the weapon in hand. The Assassin's dagger says none of these things, so one can presume that you don't need to actually attack with, or even hold the weapon to benefit from it. |

Even if it does provide a bonus when not being weilded it would be cheaper to just up your intellgence (since that ups your DC as well) and you can up your intellgence by +2 for 4,000 gold (+1 to DC) or +4 (+2 to DC) for 16,000. Like I said early the same bonus doesn't stack so even if you can get the bonus when not wielding the dagger (which I am pretty sure you can't) it wouldn't stack with it from the same effect from the same magic item. |
