In the Dragon Compendium, there are Goggles of Scrutiny.
Effectively, it cuts down the time needed to analyze an opponent from 3 to 2 rounds.

1) What would the price be to make or improve them to shorten the time down to 1 round??

2) General Assassin combat question: Do you make the Sneak/Death Attack at the end of the required number of rounds or in the following round? Normally, would one make the attack at the end of the 3rd round or in the 4th round?

Down to one round? Probably about 500,000 gp. That is effectively making it an epic item, so that price sounds about right.

The ability to do a called shot kill is extremely valuable.

You can probably get it down to 100,000 if it is 1/day.

You study for 3 rounds and THEN make your special attack. So 4th round.

Well the original item that cuts it down to 2 rounds is around 12,000 gp, so it seems kind of difficult to fathom the just from 12k gp to 500k gp for the reduction BUT yes it was be quite powerful.

Has anyone seen something that would give us all an idea about whether it is something that can be scaled up??

 I am still not sure of what the designers had in mind for this item. Is it a flat amount or a scaling gold piece value to decrease the number of rounds to concentrate on the future victim!!!!????:D

id say around 100k. The death attack was never powerful, and it sure needs all the boost we can give it. That said, going from 2 to 1 round is a great advantage and should cost a lot, so I say around 100.000. What would make it even better was to make the study and attack combined into a full round action. Then we are starting to make the death attack useful apart from its very nice fluff.
