Assassinate!! [Archive] - Wizards Community

I did see the thread about unusual assassin weapons (mind flayer blood- ew!), but I was hoping that someone could list for me what they think standard assassin equipment would be.

I got:
Garotte wire
Throwing stars
Poison
And a couple of blades.

I'm really looking for physical weapons, but magical weapons are ok too. Please help!!

Did you see that one James Bond film where the ninja tried to poison him with nothing but string and a vial of poison? That was cool. Get string.

01-04-06, 10:24 PM In D&D ? Improved Unarmed Strike, probably. They don't come more hidden than that, and you're relying on Sneak Attacks and whatnots to do the actual damage anyway.

...actually, just get a Monk class or two. Halfling kung phoo assins are fearsome. :D

IRL ? Dagger, most of the time. Easy to hide, most folks have something similar anyway, and if you can suddenly grab the guy and stab him soundly a few times odds are he's a goner. 'Course, if he's an important personage odds are you won't get away, but then again that never really seemed to bother the sorts willing to try...

01-04-06, 10:57 PM Ok now you really want something cool, get some really powerful poison, and do like SPECTER does when they want someone dead, retractable poisons tipped razor in the shoe.

01-05-06, 11:32 AM An great crossbow (Races of Stone), poison and a gnomish crossbow sight (Arms and Equipment Guide). NOW, you're really a sniper.

My group houseruled that you could do a sneak attack or death attack up to the first range increment of your ranged weapon. The 30 feet limitation makes most sniper concepts impossible.
