| FWHGilby05-18-07, 01:03 AM | I need help on this one. I've been watching a couple people play the game and wondering what they would work in DND terms. ie, weapon type, enchantments, and how the heck do you attach them to your arms. |
| Tempest Stormwind05-18-07, 01:12 AM | They were statted up back when they were the Blades of Chaos as an artifact weapon in Dragon. If I recall correctly, they were +3 adamantine blades with spiked chain reach and d12 base damage, always granted in pairs, required a special ritual to use, could not be disarmed, regenerated if sundered, and altered themselves to bypass any DR based on a metal type. The closest approximation without Dragon would be the kusari-gama as it appears in the DMG (look under the example on oriental weapons) combined with a locking gauntlet and some interesting description. |

I think the hard part would be recreating the blades' ability to be swung at (and hurt) multiple opponents. Some sort of cleaving ability that doesn't require you to kill what you hit. |
| Grave_Accomplice05-18-07, 04:04 AM | They required a sacrifice of -1 str and (I think) -1 con as they burnt into the flesh. They also granted the whirldwind attack feat. I agree, the returning was just a very nice application of reach. I think the glowing is an aspect of their DR ability though. Color changed with your skill level. |

Some sort of cleaving ability that doesn't require you to kill what you hit. I don't think that's necessary. I don't know of a non-menu-based game where your weapon only hits one enemy at a time. From Link's sword to Mario's punches, you can always hit multiple enemies in video games. For the purpose of D&D, it's not necessary to recreate that any further than Whirlwind Attack, or any other similar ability. |

Which, I forgot to indicate, the ritual to use them granted you. (That said, there *is* such an ability, and it's in the SRD, nonetheless: the warmind's sweeping strike.) |
