His attack is then a standard attack. With normal move 30f its DC 20 and doubled if you take no running start. With the feet Leap of the heavens from PHB 2 the DC does not double if you dont get a running start. The move action is a 5f high jump. Does this mean if you jump 5f high to use the 4 claw attacks that you get an attack of oppertunity against you while jumping? I cant find mentioned anywhere what happens if you jump high while in combat. Second question: Can you make a running high jump 20 feet from an opponent and then attack with the 4 claws? The book says the following: If, as part of a move, you achieve a jump check result good enough to jump 5f high while within reach of an opponent, you can attack that opponent with all 4 claws as a standard action. |

You're leaving an enemy's threatened space (the one on the ground), even though you do return to it, and it obviously isn't a 5' step as you end up moving 10' -- 5' into the higher space, and then 5' back into the original space. Leaving the ground into the space above it will draw the AoO by default. This may or may not be considered stupid and repaired via errata. If the book says you can do it, it's generally a fair bet to assume you can do it, yeah. |
