| mvincent12-29-05, 08:48 PM | I read on the star wars page that you could make more than one AoO on the same person. Is that true in D&D also?Yes. From the rules (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/attacksOfOpportunity.htm#makinganAttacko fOpportunity): "<Combat reflexes> does not let you make more than one attack for a given opportunity, but if the same opponent provokes two attacks of opportunity from you, you could make two separate attacks of opportunity (since each one represents a different opportunity). Moving out of more than one square threatened by the same opponent in the same round doesn’t count as more than one opportunity for that opponent." |

| mvincent12-29-05, 10:44 PM | So, casting a spell and then moving out of range would permit two AAOs, I suppose.Yes, it could (assuming the caster did not cast defensively and then moved more than 5') |
| Vangerdahast12-29-05, 11:08 PM | I tought in 3E you couldn´t. |
| ksbsnowowl12-30-05, 01:11 AM | I tought in 3E you couldn´t.That's the way I'm remembering it as well. No one person could provoke more than one AoO from any one other foe within one round. This obviously changed with the revised edition. |
| Borne Of Hate12-30-05, 09:26 AM | No I think its still the same. I don't think you can provoke an attack of opportunity twice in the same round from one opponent. Vincent was this changed in 3.5? |
| mvincent12-30-05, 11:38 AM | I don't think you can provoke an attack of opportunity twice in the same round from one opponent.Yes, you can. In my original post I quoted the rules and provided a link to the appropriate area (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/attacksOfOpportunity.htm) in the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/index.htm) (aka The Rules). I'm not sure I can make it any clearer than that. Vincent was this changed in 3.5?Yes. The 3.0 rules for combat reflexes (http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/srd/srdfeats.rtf) said: "The character still may only make one attack of opportunity per enemy." |
| Borne Of Hate12-30-05, 11:46 AM | Dont get bent out of shape. If I claimed to know EVERYTHING about this game i wouldnt be on here would i?! Some people have a HUGE attitude problem. I think Vincent needs a: ::hug:: |
| Kessalin Talira12-30-05, 11:51 AM | It was the case in 3.0 yes, and thankfully that was changed in 3.5. If it hadn't changed, Karmic Strike would either not exist or would be completely pointless to take. |
| mvincent12-30-05, 12:38 PM | Dont get bent out of shape. To clarify; no emotional content need be read in my above statement. My apologies if you took offense, I was merely trying to be direct and clear. I think Vincent needs a: ::hug:: None-the-less, thank you for the comforting. |
| StevenO12-30-05, 11:29 PM | You may only make one AoO per round unless you have Combat Reflexes. Moving within a creature's threatened area only produces one AoO from that creature for moving. Not one for each square moved out of. You may make an AoO anytime one is provoked provided you haven't used them all up for the turn. Example: Assuming a giant with combat reflexes granting 3 AoO each round and 15' reach. Wizard walks up to giant from outside of reach and then casts spell. AoO are trigger as wizard goes from 15' to 10' and from 10' to 5' (adjacent square) but only one can be taken as both are triggered by movement. AoO also triggered by (normal) Spellcasting within threatened area. Net AoO caused by wizard's actions is two, one for moving and one for spellcasting. |
