| Hantle_Scantle02-06-06, 07:39 AM | This one should be easy but I cannot find any definitive rulings.. say I am a stock standard 20th level fighter how many attacks per round would I have with a longbow Then how many would I have with multishot / Rapid shot / improved rapid shot? My thaughts is that with multishot I can fire 16 arrows (4 attack with 4 arrows) with rapid and multi I can fire 32 arrows am I correct? (4 attacks with 4 arrows x2) |
| Sir Knight02-06-06, 08:25 AM | Ranged weapons work the same way as melee, except crossbows due to their reload time. A 20th level Fighter with a longbow has four attacks. Multishot is a Standard Action thus you can only do it once no matter how many attacks you have. Rapid Shot gives you an extra attack but all are at a penalty so you would have five shots. That help? |
| tarkin02-06-06, 08:31 AM | No. You are WAY off. Straight fighter, no feats = 4 shots. With Rapid Shot, 5 shots. With Improved Rapid Shot, 5 shots (but no -2 penalty to hit) With Manyshot, 4 arrows (from 1 'shot') With Epic feat Improved Manyshot: 4 arrows at 16th level, but potentially unlimited (+1 arrow/5 BAB) |
| Egres02-06-06, 08:40 AM | With Manyshot, 8 shots tarkin...?!? what did you eat this morning? |
| Dragonteuthis02-06-06, 09:01 AM | Tarkin is correct except for Manyshot. You only get one attack roll with manyshot, as it is a Standard action. |
| tarkin02-06-06, 01:48 PM | Sorry, I worded it poorly. People think that "shot" meant attack. I will clarify it. |
| mvincent02-06-06, 01:59 PM | With Manyshot, 8 arrows (from 1 'shot')Still incorrect. The rules (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#manyshot) say: "For every five points of base attack bonus you have above +6, you may add one additional arrow to this attack, to a maximum of four arrows at a base attack bonus of +16." |
| DrMorganes02-06-06, 02:15 PM | With Epic feat Improved Manyshot: 8 arrows at 20th level, but potentially unlimited (+1 arrow/5 BAB) I'm not sure that's quite right, either. Base Attack Bonus stops increasing at Level 20. Epic-level characters gain an Epic Attack Bonus, but if memory serves this is NOT a continuance of the BAB progression. BAB stays capped at 20 for full-progression PCs, and all abilities based off it - like iterative attacks and manyshot - also remain the same. |

Note: the reference to "additional attacks" refers only to the standard BAB progression, rather than all additional attacks. The epic rules (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/feats.htm#improvedManyshot) for Improved Manyshot seem predicated on this fact: "As Manyshot, but the number of arrows you can fire is limited only by your base attack bonus (two arrows, plus one arrow for every 5 points of base attack bonus above +6). |
| Hantle_Scantle02-06-06, 04:42 PM | Ok so given this what feats and prestege classes do you need to get lots of attacks with a bow |
