Ok, I like the idea of augment crystlas from the Magic Item Compendium, and I came up with an idea for an item that utilized them:

Augment Matrix: This iron and silver cylinder is no more than 4 inches long and opens as would a bracer. One the top of the cylinder rests a rotating disk with six small slots. Attaching an augment matrix to a weapon in and of itself does nothing, save add a -1 penalty to hit due to the additional weight. However, up to six different augments crystals can be inserted into an augment matrix, allowing the wielder of the weapon to switch between the inserted crystals as a move action. If the character has the Quick Draw feat, he may switch between augment crystals as a free action.
Faint universal; CL 5th; Craft Magical Arms and Armor, Craft Wondrous Item, creator must have 5 ranks in Craft (gemcutting), mage hand; Price: 10,000 gp

Now, I'll be honest, I really didn't want to have ANY spell be required for the construction, but I had no idea what to base the price off of if that's the case. Do any of yunz have any ideas on how to price non-spell magic items?

There is no set guidelines for pricing non-spell magic items other than to compare the price to similiar magic items.

I feel 2000 gp is far to cheap for this. The wand bracelet from MIC is very similiar mechanics wise to this item, and it costs 12,000 gp, which seems around a good price for what you have in mind.

I would have to agree here, and I was about to quote the same item (albeit from Magic of Eberron instead of the MIC .... *prods bank account*).

The MIC's not out a week and you're already trying to weasel a way around the mechanics... It takes a move to detach a crystal and a move to reattach a new one for a reason. Leave your quick load revolver at home and try playing with the items as is...

I heartily disagree with your attitude. Just because he wants to make an item that uses a mechanic that does not yet exist does not mean he's trying to "weasel" around the mechanics, any more than a metamagic rod is an attempt to "weasel" around standard metamagic mechanics.
I would have no problem with you simply disagreeing with the OP, nor do I think his item is one that should be allowed into everyone's campaign. I don't even like the item very much myself.
But your rudeness was uncallled for.

Thanx Gad. Granted, the only reason I even thoguht up the item is because I was bored. In the campaign I'm playing in right now, I'm playing a mul gladiator from Dark Sun who trusts magic only as far as he can throw the mage. But, to the "weaseling" thing, meh...

I just call it like I see it... being innovative is one thing, but this item screams munchkin to me. The Augment Crystals are already extremely handy and allow armor and weapons to have properties that could be overly expensive (depending on level) and too situational. But I'm of the school that certain mechanics are there to balance their power. Crystals shouldn't be quickdrawn and a rotating drum or cylinder is a wee bit anachronistic.
