My friends, we've come to an impass...

My DM really wants to kill me and my party because we killed one of his main story line characters when we weren't supposed to. Avoiding the obvious conclusion that our DM could simply waltz out a Tarrasque and eat us, the most probable way he is going to kill us within the storyline is to teleport in a horde of monsters when we are unprepared and rape us.

Our party consists of a Blastificer/Buficer (Art 10/Cannith Wand Adept 3), a Rog 13, and a WF Sor 1/Fighter 10/Mineral Warrior 1 (who uses wands to deal lots of damage and has DR 14/adamantine)

I have access to spells of up to sixth level and a pretty good amount of cash. What are the best ways to avoid the DM tele-dropping in bad guys and owning us when we are unprepared? Also how do we prevent being scried? How do we always be prepared?

Note that the most probable bad guys he is going to drop on us are going to be a combination of War Trolls and other critters, possibly some spell casters, and might even make tactical use of beholders and mind flayers in conjunction with the war trolls. Might drop in some high level hags with 18 or so HD in half-fiend and very good spell-casting abilities.

I know this isn't what you've come here to hear, but it's got to be said; if your DM is preparing to dish out a challenge he/she knows your party isn't prepared for, purely for retributive reasons, there isn't anything you can do about it in-game. Surviving one encounter you seem to know a lot about the details of does nothing to ensure long-term survival.

What you need to do is sit Mr/Mrs. DM down and have a long talk off a short pier with them. The pretty monsters and pretty plots are there for the good of the player-group as a whole, and while it always sucks to have your players dispose of a bunch of your work... as a DM you have to suck it up and make more.

I wouldn't bother. Really.
I know that they could do X and end it whenever they wanted to, but that's the point.

Once the DM decides that they are going to kill the characters for doing something that messed up their oh so precious plans, it's time for a new game, and a new DM.

I wouldn't even give them the enjoyment of the kill. If they do decide to put you in a no-win situation, just tell them that you surrender. If they kill your characters, as you are so sure they will, then you know that it's time to move on. If they don't, then play along with it and see where the adventure goes.

I see where you're going with this, but let's assume for a second that the DM isn't just going to outright kill the party.

What is the best way to defend from tele-drops? Also, what is the best way to deal with situations where you aren't already buffed up?

How do you take out beholders? How do you deal with war trolls and beholders working in concert?

The other advice was spot on, but to answer your question specifically, Greater Anticipate Teleportation from Spell Compendium might help you out. To avoid being scried, we have Nondetection and Rope Trick from the PH. All of these spells have a reasonably long duration and can be affected by the Extend Spell feat (or metamagic rod).

Your team can also invest in a Hat of Disguise for everyone but the wizard-types, who are likely to be unwilling to part with a Headband of Intellect; for them, there are other ways. Sure, it's easy to penetrate the disguise, but it sows confusion and discontent when you all look like someone else, changing appearances at the drop of a hat.

Buy everyone an invisibility potion and the second you appear use them and run off.

as someone said don't give him the satisfaction, the moment he uses the word teleport, or even looks like he is thinking it have the whole party shout in unisin (sp?) "I take my dagger and kill my self" or just quit.

Just some tactical pointers.
Beholders are killed just like anything else: if middle eye is staring at you hit it with a weapon; if not, hit it with a spell. Under their arsenal of eyerays they have relatively weak AC. Spread out so that Beholders can't suppress all your magic at once.

Teleport your group away if possible. Mobility (and high saves) is key to survival, so boots, potions and wands that help you to run away are good idea to have. Same thing with illusions and invisibility.
If you must fight use Greater Dispel.

LOL i heard about this group. You got off lucky in your fight, your DM didnt properly counter your group as he was supposed to. I would have used mages disjuncion on your group at least two times while your group was flat footed on the suprise round. Yes the sisters have wealth and power and they could hire the few high level casters in eberron to do this if they didnt have a few in their pocket.

Then each sister would use blasphamy. All of your buffs will be gone as well as some your magical equipment. You will automaticaly be paralized without freedom of movement which is now dispelled... The warforged would be instant dead, if deathward armor goes off the 2nd blasphamy kills him (sorry sucks to have LA).

Then the next caster would felldrain black sand then quicken force cage the group. Caster number three or four then dimentional locks you in. Your only saving grave is if your spell resistance is on equipment and not spells since they are auto dispelled and it makes the will save not to be distroyed so you can attempt to teleport away.

This is all in the suprise round that you had no chance to know about since the seerer sister knows that you are going to be there. Not that I would kill you, I would ask for your surrender and then set you on a quest for your destiny that the seerer sister has forseen in a vision.

You guys got got lucky your DM didnt know how to kill you because the 3 sisters would know how to kill you, and when you would be vulnerable. Even if you did kill one, then Contigency teleport goes off and the corpse goes poof(to be resurected soon after). You only won because your DM blew it.

As for surviving now? Well you seem to be able to escape your DMs wrath before, I wouldnt worry about it now. I dont think he wants to TPK you, just show you that you dont own eberron. Well maybe he does since he screwed up, which is childish because its only his fualt to blame imo since he gave you to much wealth and didnt properly counter your group.
