BAB with a Prestige class HELP!!!! [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-22-06, 08:08 PM I'm posting this question here as well since it fits both forums

What happens to my Base Attack bonus when I add a prestige class.

Assume I have a Level 11 fighter Level 3 Barbarian and 2nd level Chameleon

Fighter BAB would be +11/+6/+1
Barbarian would be +3
Chameleon would be +1

So what would my total BAB look like? 14/9/4 or 15/9/4??

04-22-06, 08:18 PM Your BAB is the total of the BAB granted by all classes. In your case :-11 + 3 + 1= 15.You get extra attacks with a penalty of -5 (cumulative) from high BAB, so your attack routine is +15/+10/+5.

To avoid the situation Wolf72 said, I know of people (myself included) who do multiclassed BABs based off the number of levels you have of a certain progression. Since the character described has two levels (cleric & bard) in 3/4 BAB progression, that translates into a +1 BAB. Still sub-par, but better than nothing.

Then there are people who use the fractional BAB/save variant from Unearthed Arcana which reduces each progression into a fraction/level, which gives slightly more accurate results if you're dealing with someone who multiclasses between Average and Poor classes.
