jaelis 03-21-08, 11:54 PM	There's no rules for it, a DM should just decide. I think most people use the encumbrance rules to determine how much you can carry, and don't worry much about how you're carrying it.

Spell component pouch 1/8 cubic ft./2 lb. Bottle, wine, glass 1 1/2 pints/1.5 lb. Flask 1 pint/1 lb. Jug, clay 1 gallon/8 lb. Mug/tankard, clay 1 pint/1 lb. Pitcher, clay 1/2 gallon/4 lb. Pot, iron 1 gallon/8 lb. Vial, ink or potion 1 ounce/-- Waterskin 1/2 gallon/4 lb.

It already tells us how much it weighs in pounds (empty) - knowing how much the backpack weighs in kilograms (which only tell us how much the backpack itself weighs - not how much it can carry, which we need to know) doesn't change this fact.

sakuradm 03-22-08, 11:36 AM	Sorry, I'm quite busy so i just read the starting question, thus my response may have already been posted...... Ooops, sorry, my website doesn't have weights or copacities... I tend to just think of how many items and of what size I can fit in a Military ruck sack... since they are about the same size... usually about 30 small items (ie deck of cards) 15 medium items (ie a hand axe) or about 8 large items (ie torches) I also tend to use about 3 pockets on them too for a little more storeability... Maybe try a Sack or Purse of Holding?
beepaladin 03-22-08, 11:43 AM	I've always thought of adventuring backpacks to be sort of like military or backpacking backpacks which are able to hold a lot but are also more bulky than say, a school backpack. So it's not so much a weight thing, but a how much you can cram in thing ;). I mean, with a backpack, you can carry pretty much all one would need for a summer, though perhaps sacrificing the luxuries an things like bedrolls/tents/rope/torches/lanterns, etc would be attached to the outside of the bag. The Rule of the Game thing's pretty good. :) It'd be interesting to see that page though too, sakuradm! :)
