Bacon Burst (Pheonix Fire) Enchantment [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-10-08, 11:34 PM Once I was hungry, so I decided to create the baconburst enchantment.

Baconburst
On a critical hit you may heal yourself for 1d6 hp and deal and extra 1d6 fire damage. If your weapon does x3 on a critical it heals for 2d6 hp and deals 2d6 fire damage. If your weapon does x4 on a critical it heals for 3d6 and deals an extra 3d6 fire damage.

+2 enchantment (weapon)

Once used by the awakened boar fighter 12/paladin 5/knight 3 Sir Oinkentrotter. +3 Vorpal Baconburst long sword.

EDIT: This enchantment can only be put on melee weapons.
EDIT: Changed thread name from Bacon Burst to current.

Wouldn't work against Undead, Constructs, Oozes, or Elementals though. You can't make bacon from meatless creatures.

It's a Baconburst sword. Are you really questioning the validity of what the enhancement does?

It's regular bacon, the canadian baconburst enchantment does unholy damage instead of fire.

On topic, I approve. I'd say let it do 1 point of fire damage on a normal hit. Ironically, this makes it technically worse to crit on a x4 weapon in terms of damage, since average on 1d6 is 3.5. But no healing on a normal hit, because otherwise we get back to a bag o' rats fighter who just hits his bag for free healing out of combat.

02-20-08, 07:51 PM It scales on crit. multiplier. I also made cow and chicken burst enchants, which are actually good. I made this +2 because get a scythe or a scimitar and use it. It has been playtested.

03-04-08, 11:59 PM I'm gonna apply this to a longsword as a +0.5 (half a +1 bonus price) enchantment. Why? Because it does normal damage on normal hits, only gives 1d6 (the amount a flaming weapon gives on every hit) extra damage on a crit, and because 1d6 is less healing than CLW. And level one characters use that (in potion form, but whatever.)

11-01-08, 03:23 PM See, this definitely can be more powerful. The normal bursts deal 1d6 on every hit, in addition to dealing even more than that on critical hits (Flaming Burst is a flaming weapon with the added crit bonus).

So, the way I see it is that this can deal 1d4 fire on a normal hit and heal 1d4 if you are at or below 50% hitpoints, and deal an extra 1d8/crit multiplier fire damage on a crit and heal 1d8/crit multipler, if you are at or below 50% hitpoints, on a crit.

Well, I wouldn't say it's actually helping your "cred." That whole "any publicity is good publicity" thing only works for celebrities, I'm afraid.

Oh, I don't doubt that occasionally someone wanders in with a clever quip, or perhaps makes some note of balance or suggestion of value. But, ultimately, this thread has died many times. It will keep dying too, unless it somehow receives a major injection of creativity (that's not to say it wasn't creative before, it just needs more to live now).

This thread isn't alive again, not really. I wouldn't even say it's undead. This thread is on life support. It's a coma patient. The doctor comes around once in a while to "apply the paddles," then says: "See... he's alive and well!" Sure, technically he's alive, but he has no quality to his life, and he's certainly not well.

Pull the plug already. If this thread merits continued longevity, it will come around by it's own merits, not by pointless bumping (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/necromancer.htm). I'll not deny, it was funny for a time, and had a good run. But if you keep it around for too long, you will only soil it's memory and taint it's legacy.

The normal bursts deal 1d6 on every hit, in addition to dealing even more than that on critical hits (Flaming Burst is a flaming weapon with the added crit bonus). So, the way I see it is that this can deal 1d4 fire on a normal hit and heal 1d4 if you are at or below 50% hitpoints, and deal an extra 1d8/crit multiplier fire damage on a crit and heal 1d8/crit multipler, if you are at or below 50% hitpoints, on a crit.

That whole "any publicity is good publicity" thing only works for celebrities, I'm afraid. Oh, I don't doubt that occasionally someone wanders in with a clever quip, or perhaps makes some note of balance or suggestion of value. But, ultimately, this thread has died many times. It will keep dying too, unless it somehow receives a major injection of creativity (that's not to say it wasn't creative before, it just needs more to live now). This thread isn't alive again, not really. I wouldn't even say it's undead. This thread is on life support. It's a coma patient. The doctor comes around once in a while to "apply the paddles," then says: "See... he's alive and well!" Sure, technically he's alive, but he has no quality to his life, and he's certainly not well. Pull the plug already. If this thread merits continued longevity, it will come around by it's own merits, not by pointless bumping (http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/necromancer.htm). I'll not deny, it was funny for a time, and had a good run. But if you keep it around for too long, you will only soil it's memory and taint it's legacy.
