Bad Dog or Good Dog? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-21-05, 10:40 PM One of my Halfling players has a Wardog.
When not mounted, how does this dog behave in combat.

Does it attack/defend itself and /or master without being given commands to do so?

Or does it always require some sort of command to do anything?

Is there concrete rules for this in the PHB?

07-21-05, 10:44 PM I would guess it depends on how the character treated the dog. Most dogs will defend their owners to the death.

07-22-05, 02:52 PM What would a RL guard dog do? He would probably defend his owner fiercely, but might be scared off by very unusual or bad-smelling monsters. If his master wasn't being directly threatened, he's probably bark angrily at anything that seemed unusual or threatening, but not likely attack unless ordered to.
