Bag Of Holding Help [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-08-05, 12:03 AM I Recently have gotten a bag of holding and as well own a Belt of Hidden Pouches and it says that the belt's pockets fucntion like a mini bag of holding now i was wondering if i could stuff a bag of holding in it or not i don't wanna cause a rift and lose them both any ideas on if i can or can't? also could i stash a bag of holding in something else and then put that in the pocket? or no any help would be much appercaited :confused: :confused: :confused:

12-08-05, 12:12 AM A bag of holding inside a bag of holding is permissible. It's only a portable hole and a bag of holding that you want to avoid.

12-08-05, 01:08 AM The FAQ suggests that if you place a bag of holding within another, you need to count the total weight contained in the first bag of holding against the second (so craming your bag of holding inside your belt probably won't work). As in all such cases, you should ask your GM how it works in his campaign.

12-08-05, 03:06 AM Also keep in mind that bags of holding aren't exactly small. The large one weighs 25 lb's IIRC. A bag that size is not going to fit through the mouth of a pocket, no matter how much space is actually inside the pocket.

“Putting one bag of holding within another is just like putting the bag into a portable hole. Items that function like bags of holding, such as Heward’s handy haversacks, cause the same mishaps when mishandled."

However, from a recent Rules of the Game (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20051101a) article:
"One bag of holding can be placed safely inside another (of course, the first bag's weight counts against what the second bag can hold). Likewise, one portable hole can be placed safely inside another."

I'd ask your DM.
