What if you replaced the net with a Bag of Holding? Put a draw string on it that stretches down to the handle so the bag can be shut after use and you've got a nifty weapon. BBEG got you down? Just sneak up on him and plop your new Net of Holding over him, flip it over (nearly weightless with most of the BBEG in it), shake to get the feet down into it, and pull it shut. Instant BBEG in a bag. Would this qualify for an "Improvised Weapon?" |
| Phantom Lord05-27-06, 02:48 PM | I'd have to take 20 ranks in Stupid DM (which, BTW, happens to be a class skill for me) to allow that one...but it was certainly a clever idea. |
| tarkin05-28-06, 09:01 AM | Problems with that idea: Most creatures have sharp weapons on their body, if not in their hands. Any creature with a gore, claw, teeth attack, dagger, sword in hand will make use of this fact Bascially you turned a bag of holding is just an expensive (2,500 plus any contents of the bag) into a one way planeshift to ethereal plane. |
| Shaggy_Shaggs05-28-06, 09:57 AM | Okay, but what if you used this idea with a Bag of Devouring? :plotting: |
| KmartKommando05-28-06, 10:39 AM | I would just make a bag of holding that can't be damaged from the inside. Sharp things cutting a hole in an extradimensional space seems kinda retarded anyway. :P When is the last time you heard of someone tearing a hole in the fabric of reality with a sharp spork? A portable hole would work better though. sneak up, plop it down, bullrush him in, and the next person to go pulls it up. :D |

| Shmatt06-02-06, 02:05 PM | This was done, in a sense by my team a while back... (In Sharn, Ebberon) After using Baleful Polymorph to turn the very big spider into a nice small frog, we decided to retreat out of the dungeon and back to the surface (our fighter failed to resist the spiders poison, and could barely carry his own equipment) Thinking it a good thing, we decided to drop the frog into one of our bag's of holding... with the idea every few rounds we'd open it up and shake the frog around a bit (to make sure theres enough air). Ok, it wasnt exactly used as a weapon, but later on when fighting a Mind Flayer with a Host of Umber Hulks, we decided to flee on one of the Ebberon Flying Ship thingies... and with a cunning idea, my teammate threw the frog at the enemy group while i cast a readied dispel... we never knew what happened when a collosal spider lands on a mind flayer and 2 umber hulks... |
| shruggar06-02-06, 02:33 PM | Even stopped to think about a Bag of Holding... as a weapon? I had no idea there were people who didnt do that regularly. AFAIK that's one of the primary uses of the thing. |
| Norade06-02-06, 04:06 PM | I had an idea, grapple put bag on BBEG's head, close the bag using the open close spell, lastly you pop the bag and watch the BBEG's head go to the ethereal plane while his body stays put. |
