Does anyone know/have the stats for a plain Ball and Chain weapon. I saw it in a book or magazine before but can't find it now.

Should be same as flail but no piercing damage since there are no spikes.

The chain is long enough to make it a reach weapon like the asian weapon Kusari-Gama. Thank you for giving me the base damage for the ball.

The Rope Dart from issue 319 of Dragon Magazine has a variant called the Meteor Hammer, which seems pretty close to what you're looking for.

I'd say same as a flail but with these changes:

1) a reach weapon that is usable against tagets next to you.

2) two versions, one with and one without spikes.

3) a bonus on sundering weapons. (possibly only if the user takes some sort of special action, seeing how you can swing it around to get more momentom.

Aye, Meteor Hammer seems to be exactly what you are looking for. (I haven't read the article, but I am familiar with the actual weapon. You should read about it, as it is quite fascinating how some folk train in its use.) If you can't access the article, I would go at least heavy flail level for damage. It can actually exert a lot more force, because of the longer chain and the speed you can get it going at. Spiked chain is a good comparison too, as you can probably choke up on the chain and make both reach and non-reach attacks.

Dunno, why not try this:

Exotic 2-Handers
Meteor Hammer* 1d6 20/x2 - 5 lb. Bludgeoning
Rope Dart* 1d4 19-20/x2 - 3 lb. Piercing
*15' Reach, can be used against an adjacent foe. Trip weapon.

The meteor hammer/rope dart has a looong reach. If you wanted to drop the 15' to 10', then the damage or critical range (dart)/critical multiplier (hammer) of each could be moved up by one step.

I like unique items. :)

A post of mine from 2 months ago minus a day (slightly edited now). :)

I post this just in case you can't find Dragon #319 (said magazine with meteor hammer). I drew this up just before the article was mentioned last time, and fancy that I've already forgotten the stats again. Glad I picked that Dragon up, though, it had some great Dark Sun stuff.

Don't make it better than the spiked chain, that already sets the bar. Since bludgeoning is a bit better than piercing, I'd make it just like a spiked chain but with 1d8/x2 damage instead.

A flail is a ball and chain, but with spikes. It's just weird that a spiked chain is better than a flail. I guess it was because they wanted to keep flails martial. Still you could restat flails (including ball and chain) as exotic. How would they be?

flails are ball n chains on a handle. What he's talkin about is like ... if you ever played Samurai Shodown, Earthquake uses one of these. It's like a big shot-put with a chain attached to it.

I'd go 1d10 2 hander, reach but can hit adjacent squares. trip weapon, +2 to sunder, -2 to AC after a swing (if you're spinning it quickly, you really can't move very effectively)

I duno, im just throwin stats down tho.

Thank you Traverse for the stats from the Dragon Mag.

A bit mistaken, I can't actually post the stats from Dragon. Those stats were made prior to looking in the magazine, and upon looking were similar.

Just have to specify to make sure I don't get warned or anything. :(

I think he's talking about one like from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, if any of you have played it. Am I right?

The ball/chain weapon, called a chain mace, is actually relatively short, and should not be a reach weapon at all. Just take a flail, removed piercing, and there ya go. Just like in Braveheart.
