How would a ball-and-chain weapon (in the style of Warhammer's Goblin Fanatics) work?

I was thinking it would work similar to a dire flail, but I'm not sure.

Any suggestions?

Any of the flails should fit the idea you are looking for (i.e. Flail, Heavy Flail or Dire Flail)

They'll work in the style I want? (That is, comically oversized) or almost as big as the wielder?

Large-sized Heavy Flail and the Monkey Grip feat. A bit sub-optimal, but that's as big as you can get under the rules, pre-epic.

And where would I find the Monkey Grip feat?

In Weapons of Legacy

And Complete Warrior. The Gobbo weapon seems like a Heavy, Balanced weapon (either the Dire Flail or one of the OA chain weapons, not really sure at the moment though) wielded with Monkey Grip. Massive and heavy chunk of steel that causes immense damage upon impact but is almost suicidal to wield.

I'm using a weapon which is more or less a ball and chain in a current game. Basically it is a spiked chain that does bludgeoning damage. However, it cannot be used to sunder weapons.*
